Does it exist? I am framing a senior picture of a girl who is obsessed with cows, they will settle for no less than a cow patterned moulding, thought I'd check to see if it existed before I try to make my own! Any advice appreciated! Thanks! Anne

I haven't seen that one. But you could take a simple flat moulding, print out the pattern, glue it down and polyurethane or Decoupage it. Alternatively, it might be easier to use fabric. It should be a much easier pattern to find in fabric.

Or you might consider creating a "cow" mat and the proverbial "simple black frame."

I've seen cow print fabric at fabric stores that's kind of like suede. Getcherself a primed liner and glue and wrap. They also make cow print cotton quilt fabric, but those have bleed through problems.

I have one we call the cow moulding. What size do you need. I can post a photo tomorrow.

Google Cowhide pattern and check out the images that come up

This is one that I came up with. You could print out something like this and wrap a frame or mask off a black, brown or white moulding and then cut out the pattern and spray with the opposite color. I have done this many times making frames for Cincinnati Bengals jobs.

Here is a tutorial on making the pattern in photoshop.

HOLY COW~A~BUNGA!!!!

This sounds like an awesome frame to make!!!! :D :D :D
Can't wait to see what you do!

No, but I think it would look good an a piece of bovine art.

It was good enough for Chik-Fil-A.

No it is not a cow pattern because it would sell at the rate of a couple of feet per year if it were. I've gone through 500 feet of it in the last couple of years because it is more versatile than a cow design.

Did not mean to disparage your frame (I like it!) - but the OP was looking for a "cow pattern moulding" and while yours would go great on a cow image, it is not a cow pattern. Ya dig?

We don't know their budget. In the past when asked for a cow pattern and I showed this or told them for $400 more they could get a custom cow pattern they saved the $400 for something else and used this.

I'll do it too.......... send them to me! But it will be more than $50!!!!!
Cows are expensive! :D
maybe I'll just get a baby one......
wait....... do baby cows have spots?? Must research this...... :D

Can tell you guys equate "cow" with "holstein". Maybe she is into black angus or white-faced herefords (my personal favorite) or brown swiss or dutch belted.....

One of my favorite local painters always painted brown swiss cows (Washington County MD is dairy country). I told him that I wouldn't be interested in dairy cattle, but maybe if he painted some beef cattle, preferably white-faced herefords.... so he did, and now it is MINE! and I love it every day.

Is that Polled Herford or horned? Baer, save me a tenderloin, and that sucker's hide, must be at least 40 square feet! My esoterica extends to livestock too good sir :) ! L

Oh, the actual topic... Holy cow(sorry)...paint the stoopid thing.. Yeah, acrylics.natch! L

Here is how I would do it if a customer wanted a Holstein cow pattern in a frame. I would sell them on an appropriate width linen liner and a narrow outer cap frame in either black or white.

I would join the liner, roll or brush on a coat of white gesso, and then daub black splotches with acrylic. Spray with gloss or matte Krylon when dry.

Voila!

When Bear (the steer) was finally slaughtered, he was 3,200lbs and the hide
was closer to 54 sq. In the picture, he is only 1,748lbs. The little boy is now 6'6'
and the senior deputy DA in southern OR.
