When wet counter-mounting to the back of a mounting substrate*, is it essential that the counter-mounting be done at the same time as the front mount? Or can they be done on separate days? (Each time, it's left to dry under weights).

*(i.e. foam board, upon the front of which is being mounted either paper or matboard.)

Maybe the timing would not matter in some cases, but I'd recommend mounting and counter-mounting at the same time or in closely timed operations.

The potential problem is that if the mounted side dries and warps, then counter-mounting later might not restore perfect flatness, especially if the temperature and/or humidity are different on the days when the mounting and counter-mounting are done.
