I usually use AMS tapped corners and back plates and their back plates have an obvious bias so it is easy to determine which side of the back plate faces the front of the frame.

On Nielsen Hardware, there is a stamped Nielsen Logo on both the tapped corners and on the back plates. Of course on the tapped corners, the Nielsen Logo goes in facing the back of the frame because you need to be able to tighten the screws :).

On the back plates, does the Nielsen logo face the BACK or the FRONT of the frame? Is there a bias on Nielsen back plates or is it built into the tapped corner?

Does anyone have a link to a Nielsen page showing the correct info or are you speculating as "that's the way I have always done it?"

I believe the logo should be toward the back of the frame, in other words when you slip the back plate into the frame channel the logo should be visible.

I've always done it the same way, logos to the back, although I'm not sure how I know this.

I found what looks like a reprint of some Nielsen assembly instructions on the Documount website that says (and shows) what you said - the logos of both pieces should be facing the back of the frame.

Thanks.

Yep, as you slip them in together, both logos are facing the same way.

I was told many years ago that Nielson does have a warp. I was also told that Clark hardward does not. Can anyone verify that?

The Nielsen corners are only slightly biased and should be used with the logos facing towards the back of the frame.

If I am doing a repair job where the metal has been a bit distorted and the corner won't close up properly I have sometimes fixed it by tweaking the plates with a hammer or pliers to get a bit more bias happening.
