Where do I find a new spinner? I have one that I bought years ago, and cannot find another. The one from Gemini Moulding is a little expensive, although quite nice. I need the tall tower kind that holds quite a few samples. Resources? Or does anyone have one for sale? Thank you!

I did make one years ago, wasn't too hard but really time consuming. The lazy susan spinner for the bottom has to be heavy duty as it'll have a lot of weight on it. If you put a 2x2 up the center and attach the sides to that in a pinwheel fashion you'll get a stronger spinner.

Once you make a couple for yourself you'll see why they cost so much :) I kept mine, then gave them to another framer in another town. I think she is still using them. I replaced them with one that I bought from a framer that was closing his doors. Look in the commercial section and pm some folks and see if they have any for sale... Or ask your reps if any shops have them and want to sell them. My rep that turned me onto the spinners wasn't making any money on the deal, just going the extra mile and helping framers in need....

I think that is where I am going to end up, making it myself. Now where to research finding a lazy susan base? Grrr. P.s. Love the kitty poem, BBT fan here too!:)

Just Google "Ball-Bearing Lazy Susan" and you will find a ton of them. Just make sure that you choose one that will support the anticipated weight of the tower.

Here is one that will support 1000 pounds.

if you are going to make a spinner why not make it all usable

my list of materials was
two sheet luan, 8 pcs cut 10" x 54" 8 pcs cut 10" x 13"
You can cut those with a 33.3degree angle on the long edges
1/2 sheet of 3/4" ply wood cut pcs 4 octagonal pcs out of 3/4" ply wood approx. 20" across 9.75" sides
1/4 sheet of 3/4" ply wood cut pcs 2 octagonal pcs out of 1/2" ply wood approx. 20" across 9.75" sides
1 48" piano hinge
2 small hinges
84 "x 60" of velcro fabric
Contact cement
drywall srews 1.5"
one metal lazy susan (Home Depot)
2 magnetic door closers
Took me about 3 hours to build this if you built two it would probably only take 5 hours.

space octagons & screw 7 of the panels of luan to the octagons 3/4" for the top & bottoms and the 1/2" for the shelves..put the piano hinges on the 7th panel then attach the 8th panel to that put amgnetic door closer on then assembel the bottom half same way then attach the lazy susan ( you will have to plan this part I forget but I think you need to attach it to the 3/4" plywood before you put the sides on)
Then coat with contact cement and wrap the 7 sides and the do the door.

It was 20 years ago so double check measurements etc. if you put one at each end of your design atble you could put your mat board samples in here....
