Customer has inquired as to where he can have a large photograph copied. The photo is 40" x 60" and mounted to a solid substrate which can not be folded or rolled. It would have to be transported as is.

Does anyone know of someone who could provide this service preferably in the South or North Carolina?

Thanks

Look up Warren Tucker in Wilmington, NC in the member's list. He has a link to the store's website there. He has the equipment that all in this business dream of when they consider art reproduction.

I would second the recommendation of Warren Tucker. He has a scanner that cost more then most frame shops.

I want Warren to adopt me.

Well... not if it means actual hard work! I just want to play with all his cool toys.

I'm thinking it might even be worth a side trip to see his setup on one of my trips west to shoot.

Of course if the sun shines where you live and you've got a digital camera, you can prop up the piece outside in all but the harshest time of day and shoot the piece a section at a time. Stitch the shots together in Photoshop or with PTGui etc. The stitching is pretty much automatic. No problem at all to wind up with files with as many hundreds of megapixels in resolution as you need. If the image isn't quite square straighten in out with the Free Transform tool in Photoshop.

We do this all time with my wife's 30 x 44 pastels, who is my only customer for this service. Usually 6 images stitched is enough to make a print that is stunningly true to the original in every nuance of color and apparent texture. However, we still haven't figured out how to simulate the subtle dust-on-the-matte effects that are so much a part of framing pastels.

Avoid doing this around noon when the UV is off the scale, most other times of day are fine.

... or take the digital photos and send them off to Custom Digital. I can't believe what a great job they do for the price.

Just received back a restore job that made my jaw drop.
