I have been searching for a special customer and haven't had any luck... anybody know where I can get a copper leaf oval or unfished oval I can leaf myself?

Thanks,
Jason.

Special customers are like life partners. Searching does no good at all. You have to wait for them to come to you.

The good news is that, unlike life partners, you're allowed to have several special customers at the same time.

Jason, I recently copper-leafed a frame for my bathroom. I used an old distressed frame with a nice beveled mirror that I found at a yard sale, $2.00! Sanded it and cleaned the surface with TSP, you can find that at your hardware store, follow diluting instructions.

Copper foil and sizing can be found at most craft or hardware stores. Do it just like gold or silver leafing. Newbies can do it too, just follow the directions. You might want to practice on one first before you do a customer's, if you've never done it before

It was fun, and turned out nice. I finished it with a stained varnish coating to give it an old look. I got on a copper leaf streak and leafed the bathroom fixtures, light fixture and switch plates and towel bracket.

I would be confident to do one for a customer.

If you do find a copper oval frame, please let us know.

Good luck and have fun if you do it yourself, and then send us pics!

I've found great oval frames and oval convex glass (best glass prices I've ever found!)at Presto Frame and Moulding Inc. I looked at their online catalogue just now and didn't find any unfinished ovals, but you can call them tomorrow and ask 800-431-1622.

For their online catalogue, search by their name, and you can use my customer name to get in. e-mail me if you want to, I'll give you more details.

Prices listed are suggested retail, BTW.

In Line Ovals and Presto are all you need here. Their frames are not expensive and, if I were you, I would welcome the fact that their frames come already finished to me. Surfacing raw wood frames in oval shapes is not an easy job at all and saving that pain is worth every penny you pay others for getting an already surfaced frame. Coper leafing on such frames becomes then the easiest and funniest part of your project.

WHO ARE YOU???

AND WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH CORNEL????

Cornel, what's so funny about it? Or did you mean "funnest"?
