Since several Grumblers have encountered problems with varying speeds and folders and such in this New Grumble, could somebody please give us a brief seminar on Cookie Management 101?

I looked under Tools and got lost with First Party Cookies and Third Party Cookies (what, no Second Party Cookies?) - and a lot of other cookie mumbo-jumbo. :fire:

I use Internet Explorer and Windows XP.

How should I set my cookie handling to maximize navigation on the New Grumble???

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!! :faintthud:

Here are some websites that goes into some detail.

Cookies are fairly harmless and cannot contain a virus. They are set by sites you visit to store your preferences and login info, for your next visit.

In the case of the Grumble, it stores your sign on name, password, etc. Framer made a change about a day ago, so most of the other settings are stored on the grumble's database - rather than in a cookie. (last visit date, pointers for where you left off in each forum, time zone, avatar, layout style, etc)

Best regards
Mike

Thanks, Mike (how many times have I said that???)!

I'll do some reading up on cookies when I get home this evening.

In the mean time, does it make any sense that the cookies (?) seem to be working just fine on every forum except the Main Grumble forum? On the Main G all threads are marked as unread and on Warped or in this forum all seems as it should be.

I find that highly confusing (but maybe I am just highly confused - LOL!).

Not really. Try logging out completely, then back in.

Looking inside my own cookies, I see that it combined the OLD grumble cookie with the new one. (in the same cookie).

That could be confusing it.

Logging out and back in will cause it to erase the cookie and bake a new one. :)

It was nice knowing you!

I think third party cookies are those that are so stale and tasteless that they were left on the plate by all the guests of both the first and second parties you tried to bring them to.
