Making round frame and need convex mirror of good quality. Does anyone know where I can find it?
Size is about 20 inches but I can make it smaller or bigger. Thank you.

I guess, to be honest I never had any chance to even touch convex mirror, internet says they made in
many ways and I am making gilded frame and don't want to put some cheap plastic there. Really just looking for advice. Don't know what to do.

Here: http://www.crlaurence.com/crlapps/showline/default.aspx?GroupID=1494&History=39325:1491:1493&pom=0 is a source for 1/4" plate glass convex mirrors. I have bought from these people for the same kind of project (not as fancy though). Convex mirror has a lot of potential energy in it and if you try to cut one down to fit a frame you will be at risk, because they tend to shatter in a somewhat explosive fashion...empirical studies and all. If you don't need an antique look, these are very high quality.

I feel much better now. Thank you very much everybody.

I'll give a thousand thumbs up for Less at Tudor Glass (Real Hot Glass on the Grumble)

Bulleye glass and mirrors are old nature to him......

He made the worlds only slumped Museum Glass pieces (two.... and one had to be replaced)
the one he made for me was not even easy in regular glass.... much less the Denglas
he was using. (TV MG is a film coat.... and it won't stretch until it evaporates at high temp --
same for ConClear)

Even with the shipping, he was cheaper than ILO in clear glass.....

That green reflection I put there with a strong light, just so you knew that there was
even glass in there. The frame is about 11x14... or so-ish.

Now I am confused, is it the same Tudor Glass from Australia? I checked their site and didn't find 20 inches mirror and 16" is too small, 24" is too big.

Yes same business.

Pop him an email he makes all sizes to order 20" will be no problem.

Why does this mirror need to be convex?
Just curious. :kaffeetrinker_2:

My sister in law bought a beauty salon a few months ago and the area is good so I thought let me make her a mirror, something really nice,
good conversation piece anyway it's slow now before the election. So I was looking through my books and there is a mirror I wanted to make
for a long time which has a convex mirror. It looks great with it and a regular mirror wouldn't look that good. And the more I think about
convex mirrors the more I like them. Check them out!

Convex mirror go back to Louie 15th. They aren't to look into... they
are kind of a "Whole room kaleidoscope" . . . it is just very decorative...

just not something that you would see in a white mat and black frame.

I knew of them, but not in this context. I'd only seen
them being used for security purposes in stores.

if Less looked into a convex mirror he'd fall over

A "one-way" would afford the room to place a hidden camera behind the glass,
but I'm assuming you mean the slightly bowed ones that allow you to see around
corners.... like in hospitals.

it was rumored or storied that Marie Antoinette had many large decorative bulls-eye mirrors
placed about the palace so that she could fain checking her hair, and in fact watch the staff,
or courtiers.

In Paradise Valley Arizona and in some places in Scottsdale, people have convex mirrors at the end of their driveways.
Some of these driveways have bushes and foliage that make it a blind back-up or forward drive directly onto the sometimes very narrow side streets so the convex mirrors help them see what's coming down the street to prevent a collision.

Might wanna try Jan Van Eyck there, Bear, Ver Meer was a whole 'nother Dutchman .................. just sayin'

.................. But the rhyme was good anyway.
