I had a call from a customer looking for a BIG convex circular mirror. any sources out there?

I found 3, one 18" one 20" and one huge, but built into a complete entryway piece of furniture, all at an antique store near here. But the customer wants a 30"+ mirror, honking big frame, no eagle on top, and by this weekend!

any takers?!
:D

I got a 24" beveled circle lined up, but it HAS to be convex!?

PS it started out as a $350 good will, karma type job, but after thee demands its turning into a $3500 out the door type job!

Hey Bob,
We make large mirror frames, and convex mirror glass as well.
Check out Tudor Glass convex mirrors and give me an e-mail if interested.
# 9 is silver gilded 32" dia frame / 24" dai glass
#10 is dark walnut 42-1/2" dia frame / 33-1/2" dia glass
We have the larger walnut frame in stock, can land this in the US for around US$1000.
Approx 5 - 6 working days delivery, probably not quick enough for your client.
The (probably) acrylic mirrors Jerome pointed you to might have to do, but be sure that you advise client acrylic will scratch like billy-o very quickly, just wiping dust off the surface.

Thanks Jerome,
We really only got into having certain frames turned up, after being asked by many framers where they can get hold of (particularly) nice chunky style circular frames.
Also having the first lot of smaller contemporary circle frames coming out in the next couple of weeks.
Always happy to assist framers with all convex glass, frames, and general inquiries.
Thanks again for your positive feedback.

Les,
Great looks. Are the frames "turned" or routed?
Or do you just order them?

I'm assuming that you are doing the glass work.
(Hot glass) Great silvering. I like the looks of #9.

Now those are some nice convex mirrors!

I'll call those prople and let them know about the web site, hopefully they haven't settled for a less quality product.

Baer,
They are routed (cnc), special cutters etc for our own designs. Of course, turned up has other meanings of manufactur, and turned up also equals made up, have made up, etc. Local slang ! :D
Yeah, #9 is a fantasitic siver gild finish, over a black base. I leave that to an expert gilder here in Adelaide.
The silvering in traditional, you have to look pretty hard to see through the heavy silvering application, then correct copper and 2 pack paint to finish. I also leave that to a nearby silverer's expertise.

We do make the glass, great enjoyment from this.

Please ,take a look at the rest of out website, we have a lot of products for framers, would love some feedback.
I went the the (Australian) Framing Show in Melbourne a couple of weekends ago, visiting only this time, and did some seminars (John Ranes and Vivian Kistler). I asked Vivian if framers in the US use, or have available, my types of products.
She advised it really isn't seen / used much there.
I know Inline Ovals have some similar lines, but not the deep rectangle and square convex glass, very useful for flowers and other memorabilia, and much more open to design possibilities.

Bob,
Thanks, let me know if you want the client to go through you. You might as well get a mark up and something for assisting them.
