Hi there,

Can the Fletcher 8448 wall mounted glass cutter be converted to cut matboard and foamcore as well?

Has anyone heard of a part that can be purchased that holds the blades? Or a distributor? I did a search on google and came up empty.

Any info would be much appreciated. Thank you so much in advance.

The 8400 Series Fletcher Cutter scores glass, and cuts matboard/cardboard/foamboard and also scores plexiglass. The machine came with two pillar posts.

One pillar post was only for cutting cardboard/matboard/foamboard and has a Fletcher M-81 mat blade on the end.

The second pillar post has a glass cutting wheel on one end and a plastic scoring blade on the other.

If you are missing the mat cutting post you would need to have one custom made by a machine shop.

Neither of these are available from Fletcher as replacement parts. This cutter is no longer serviced by Fletcher and was last manufactured in 1987.

I looked EVERYWHERE for one of those mat cutting pillar posts about two years ago and came up empty. If you find one or have one made let me know.

Thank you for your replies. It looks like we are going to have to bite the bullet and think about upgrading to a new model.

Again, I appreciate the responses.
