Conservation Clear Stamp

My problem is not that the 'this side faces art' stamp is missing or incorrect. My issue is that it is not hidden my the moulding rabbett - it is sticking out.... a lot. Has anyone been able to remove the stamp? If so, how did you do it??? I think it may be a lost cause - I know I can get another piece but the piece is already cut, is an odd size and I would like to avoid tossing it.

Acetone will do the job nicely. Most easily found in the form of nail polish remover.
