I'm doing a bid that requires composition ornaments. The two sources I've used don't have what my client is looking for, they are Bowmar and Decorators Supply. Any one have any other suppliers for compo? This is a French Provincial style. Also, for some reason I'm not being notified when someone replies to my posts. Any computer literate framer that can help me on this one, I'm sure it's somewhere in the User CP but.......?? Thanks
I see the instant email notification on the bottom of this but didn't seem to work

In the User CP it is under Edit Options:

When you post a new thread, or reply to a topic, you can choose to automatically add that thread to your list of subscribed threads, with the option to receive email notification of new replies to that thread.

You can change the drop down menu therein to No notification, Instant, Daily or Weekly.

LOL.

Sometimes when I believe I can answer a simple inquiry I do so - thus taking some of the burden from the shoulders of all of youse guys who really know all the techie answers.

Compo Ornaments

Okay, I think I did the notification thing correctly, if so I should get an email about this response right?

Not Working

I went to the tread listing, put a checkmark in the box for "instant" but couldn't find a way to save that. I left the page, came back to it, and the darn little check mark had checked out!! Me and computers $%&%*#

There I go -- flippin' crazy!

Okay, this has taken a life of its own. I do the Thread page and there are all the threads I've done. Next to it I check the box for "instant" and scroll way down as far as I can but no "save changes". I also checked my settings and it does say that I should receive instant emails but why or why won't the blankety-blank dealie work!!

Is your e-mail through AOL by any chance? If so they won't get through.

User CP > Settings and Options > Edit Options > then proceed with drop down box and it is on this page you should see the Save Changes option down at the bottom.

If you click on the link in my post #2 it is not the correct page to save your options.

Not Happening

Well, I have cox as my email provider, I've followed the steps repeatedly, re-started my computer, and yet I'm missing something. Maybe this means I should follow my gut and not even try to bid on this French Provincial job. It's probably some tiny little glitch that's screwing with me. Oh yeah, did I mention that I'm certified by the state of Nevada to teach computer literacy on Apple IIE, that's way back when they decided to eliminate good classes like my wood shop. Framar, honestly I followed the chain just like you said and in that option page I had already selected the instant reply button. Maybe it's just ----- who knows? I also have selected the instant email notification on this reply form before I submit.

OK - I had never noticed those options on the bottom of the full reply screen - so I have checked Instant Notification - let's see what happens, shall we?

HOLD THE PHONE!!!

I just received all three emails from all three test postings!

Yahoo must be slow tonight. Those yahoos!

So, John, I guess the problem is not with the Grumble afterall.

Dear Framar,

Jeff Rodier has just replied to a thread you have subscribed to entitled - Composition Ornament Supplier - in the The Grumble forum of The Picture Framers Grumble.

Did it work Mar, Huh did it.

There may also be other replies, but you will not receive any more notifications until you visit the forum again.

All the best,
The Picture Framers Grumble

My save changes is in the bottom of the Misc Options box. Are you using IE or Firefox.

Make them stop sending me emails! Arrrrggghhh!

OK - never mind - all the boxes in all the locations are unchecked now.

Maybe all the boxes in all the locations have to be checked for it to work?

Huh, maybe?

Nope - so that means I figured out how to successfully turn the feature both on and off. Now why won't this work for John? That is the question.

John (Woodworks by John) was endeavoring last night to engage the "Instant Email Notification" feature on the Grumble. I managed to get it to work successfully for me (it's kinda slow) and now have it successfully turned off.

John is having trouble. Any suggestions for him?

Maybe, just maybe, it's because I've changed to an Apple MacBook and I need to explore it to see why I'm not getting the message. I get them from other forums. I've decided to forego the bid on the piece of furniture -- became more of an antique reproduction than the work I usually do. Thanks for all the advice and help.
