It might, though it could also mean that artists should use materials that are durable. Late 19th. c. saw the introduction of some delightful pigments that were also extremely fugitive. Rothko apparently didn't get the memo. How would you glaze a wall sized mural, by the way?
As noted in other threads, I am not a fan of the glazing of paintings. I'll leave it at that, as it'll just start an argument.
