I have a copied peice of paper with wording on it that my customer would like to have a coin mounted onto the paper. What should I use? I know silicone will turn the paper yellow. That would be the reason I have it in my hands to work with, the customer tried to do it themselves with silicone.

Thanks for the help.

They want it done cheap not worth anything to anyone except them.

I know that Lascaux 360 or Lascaux 498 adhesive will work. I tested the adhesive with numerous materials and was amazed at it's versatility and holding power.

It's also chemically stable so it won't have any outgassing problems and is removable with acetone. Not sure I'd recommend it for a valuable coin, but would be fine on this project.

If it is of no value and just for decorative purposes. I would just use a hot glue gun. And let them know ahead of time for their approval.

The suggestion to use Lascaux 360 is a good one, so long as the coin and the paper have no significant monetary or sentimental value.

Whatever adhesive you use to attach the coin to the paper, be sure to support the paper, too. If you don't, the weight of the coin on the spot of paper could cause it to cockle and possibly tear sooner or later - probably sooner.

If your customer does not want you to permanently mount the sheet of paper, you could cement the paper to a mounting board only in the area where the coin is mounted, which would relieve the paper of the coin's weight.

If I were doing this job, I probably would make a clear film overlay for the paper, and then cement the coin to the clear film overlay sheet. If the coin were heavy, I might use glass instead of clear film for the overlay mount, which would be OK if there is also a spacer and an outer glazing to insulate the mount assembly inside the frame.

Which adhesive would you use to cement the coin to the film overlay?
