Hi all,

Just wondering what you all were doing Labor day weekend.

I think I will close that saturday. (I am closed on Sunday and Mondays) In this town many of the people own vacation properties so on long weekends or really nice ones the place is really empty so I think I'll take a day off.

Anybody else playing hooky?

Just planning ahead.

In THIS town, all of your people come up here to their vacation properties so I need to be in here.

I'll tell them you said Hi!

But if the weather is bad, I might stay open.
Ditto. Summer started late this year and I think the vacation cycle shifted with it.....

If we weren’t going on vacation the following weekend, I’d seriously consider closing on Saturday the second.

But every year when I think that that Saturday is going to be a bust, I am surprised. Maybe it’s because school is just starting so folks are around, or maybe people are just coming back from vacation, but that Saturday is frequently busy.

I’d love a three day weekend, though.

Today, however, is incredibly slow. New Hampshire has odd tradition in that each town has an “Old Home Days” weekend in which there are parades, concerts, and fireworks. I’ve had three people in today; everyone else is at the town common eating fried dough.

BTW: I was curious to know where “Not where I want to be” is, so I clicked on your web page. The image for your “Contact Us/Directions” has a broken link.

I normally extend the Labor Day Weekend as well as other major holidays. I work 6 days a week and the extended weekends on major holidays is how I take some time off with minimum disruptions.

He's in New Jersey but is wishing he were elsewhere....like his vacation property in Maine , eh?

Hi Bill,

I just tried the Directions page and it worked for me but I only tested it using AOL and Internet Explorer. Are you using a different browser I should try?

Also your post reminded me that this town is going to have a aprade that weekend so I think my plans are about to change.

I am in New Jersey but meant that I would rather be finger painting with my 2 year old. (or half asleep on my couch watching Cops and eating a pizza)

Closing!

Same as FramerReady!!! working 6 days/week - taking the long weekends helps keep my sanity and with Saturdays the way they have been - I won't miss much.

Like today - deadsville! Good since I have a ton of work to get done from the days it wasn't dead!!

Sorry, but it doesn’t show on my browser (IE 5) on my Mac.

I downloaded the link and got an old fashioned, goose necked phone when I opened it in QuickTime PictureViewer, but, it appears as a generic tiny icon when I load your home page.

Maybe, because it is a .bmp rather than a .jpg? I dunno; beats me!

Closed - Since we have moved off of the beaten path, I do not find it necessary to be open for the tourists. I tried it last year and I did it again this year - closed saturday for the month of August; all of my locals are on vacation! Which is what I desperately need!!! With two stores (totally unrelated), September - December end up being 7 days a week physically whereas the prior months it was at least 6 days between the shops and paperwork.

One of these days, the dam will break and be filled with gold

my 2 1/2 pennies!

I clicked on JbNormandog's ContactUs Link and got an address, phone number and directions on how to find the shop key hidden under the planter near the front door.

Tell me again why you love your Mac, Bill?

Oh, and, Yes - I'll be closed Labor Day Weekend.

And getting paid for Labor Day.

Closed!! A lot of my customers have said they are heading to the beach to enjoy the last long weekend of summer. Nice time for me to get caught up on the things that need doing at home.

Closed too. School starts after Labor Day 'round here, so I don't expect much. Everyone will be having their last summer hurrah somewhere else.

After that, I'm thinking about adding Mondays to my schedule. I'm usually in the shop anyway and I get a few calls and knocks at the door.

After three years of DEAD weeks after Labor day, I started last year "Closing for vacation" the week of labor day. I will again this year.

It seems people are just too busy "getting back to school" and their old routines to come see me. :(

What is worse... closing down for the holiday weekend and wondering if I miss a job or two or working the holiday weekend with no sales? I am shutting it down... life is short... I mean it is getting shorter.

Oh, that’s easy! Fast running, stable platform, easily customizable, and very good looking.

I think the problem is with the browser. Let’s see, … Internet Explorer? Isn’t that a Microsoft product? I hear they’re dabbling in operating systems, too.

Well, psuthth, to you, pal!

To each his own...

Labor Day is one of our best days of the year..

Around here we have a lot of feds. They have the day off and want to get stuff done.

Ron,

Was that you that let yourself in with the key.

Someone came in, chewed up the bathroom garbage can, ate part of the rug in the showroom and spread dark fur all around the place.

The cats in the area have been in hiding ever since and there is a sheen of slobber from the 6 foot mark on down on most of the walls.

Any ideas who?

Normally, for this holiday I would be open all day Saturday, closed Sunday and Monday. This year I wish I could be open all day Saturday and Monday because I have an art show running. However, due to a family wedding I will be closing Saturday at Noon and will remain closed til Tuesday morning. If my one employee wasn't about to give birth I'd be open.

FYI

This will be a nice weekend to spend with the family. Have been working on that first tan of the summer and times almost up. Oh well... There is always next year.
