Welcome to the Grumble mariosonic21.That photo is Fitzgerald's Bar 1941 in NYC. Taken after the Dodgers won the pennant.
It's a representation of the end of prohibition. When Castle/Bryant Motion Picture and Design, the geniuses behind the opening credits to Cheers and the opening credits to the 1st season of Growing Pains, found these photos, they're bars and speakeasies from the late 19th, early 20th century, except Woody's pic, which is actually a lumber camp taken in Brill, WI in 1902. The pic after Ted's and Shelley's in the 1st-3rd seasons is actually a barbershop taken in Junction City, KS. Most of these photos from the opening credits you can find in the book called Our Town on the Plains.Welcome to the Grumble mariosonic21.
Wow, did you just know that fact off the top of your head?
Why would it be in the opening of Cheers which is set in Boston if it's a photo of a New York team win?
I guess maybe it's because Sam was a baseball pitcher, and that's an iconic moment of baseball history.
Oh, well. The original post of this thread was over 10 years ago.
I'm guessing the issue has been resolved by now

WHAT!? Those posters aren't displayed to PPFA conservation standards!
Fun fact: Kirstie's pic in the opening credits was drawn in this pic. If you noticed the man behind the bar is the same man in this pic.WOW! Look at the craftsmanship of that bar!
To build that would cost more than the price of a new car theses days.
I like Cheers! I was looking for the original pics of the opening credits to see what they originally look like. Those are great pics, thanks for sharing.
So, are you a history buff?
or a Cheers uber-fan?
