Has anyone ever tried to disassemble and clean the foot block?

I've been having several problems with my Wiz, some of which have to do with adjustments to configurations.
However, the biggest problem is tearing out of corners from the back, especially on 8-ply.
I've talked to tech support and have gone through the usual fixes:

-Changed blade magazine
-Adjusted pressure
-Lubricated all moving parts
-Numerous configuration adjustments

The blade still seems NOT to retract fully before rotating and tears out the corner.
Perhaps there's too much dust and debris in there and the lubricant just gummed it up and made the sticking worse?
Maybe it needs a good cleaning before lubricating again??

I'll call Wiz tech again tomorrow but wondered if anyone had tried drastic surgery on their foot block.

Thanks!
Maria

Grease isn't the word

Don't tell Wizard, but I've gone 7+ years without lubing anything. (Nothing like what I did to the C&H.) Dusted and cleaned it many times, realigned it, all that.

But I had to give up on 8-ply: tech support helped me through, I cranked the dial way past "zero", and could not get the depth I needed. Otherwise, it works.

I too am guilty of not lubing the Wizard all these years. I do throw a dust cover over it at night, though.
I'm hoping the lubricant did indeed get gummy mixing with dust. That would be an easy thing to fix.

Wizard tech saw my post and e-mailed instructions on cleaning.
Turns out you can use Dawn dish washing detergent. I'll try it tomorrow.

Thanks all!

Hi, I had a blade setting depth issue with my Wizard which turned into an easy fix, undid the three grub screws around adjustment Depth knob and then alined silver knob red line with number set on screen.

Plunging was my next head scratched. Fixed it by taking the plastic half circle that protects the cutting head and put a very small amount of lube on the brass rod that is pushed down when blade is engaged. Hope this helps. Arty.

Hi Dani, it is just as well that I did take the black plastic cover off to have a look as the bunch of small electrical wires that go up and down with the foot block were chaffing / rubbing on the head of one of the bolt heads that holds the head in position. Might have saved myself a small fry-up. Arty.
