I have a friend interested in buying a Valiani chopper, that's available locally, and needs "chopping lessons", but I've never seen a Valiani.

Are they similar enough that a person who's used to using a Morso (me) could teach someone to use a Valiani?

How are they different/similar?

Looks similar enough Val. There are rebbet supports to adjust and your sliding scale. If they don't have an owners manual, buyer can always get one.

That looks so much like my Pistorius chopper to almost be its twin. The only discernable difference is the width and design of the base, but the cutting head, guides, knobs, sliders, etc. look identical.

I was not aware that the Morso could be improved upon. Why try to improve perfection. Just kidding, if it is better buy it.

Jack, I'm not looking to buy one, I love my Morso! Someone local is selling it (two of them, in fact), and 2 people I know are interested, because the price is decent and there won't be shipping involved. I just wondered, because I was asked by each of the interested parties if I could show them how to use it, and I wondered how similar the two (Morso and Valiani) are, so if what I showed them on my Morso could be translated to their Valiani. Looks like it.

They all have small differences and quirks, try it out and discover what they are. If not significant and will not ruin a job it may be a good buy. Even different models of Morsos can be a problem unless you are aware of the quirks and limitations. Good luck on your good neighbor efforts.
