Chinese Firms Bargain Hunting in the U. S.

Wow

Thats a great article Tim, thanks for posting it.

Amazing how the world changes, perceptions of countries change and how much an undervalued currency turns heads.

sell 'em EVERYTHING!!!!! golden gate bridge, the capitol buldings, Chicago,----EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!! cash the checks/bank the $$$, then nationalize ALL of it, and sell it to them again!!!!!!!!!!

Factory Direct

After reading the article, it should not be long before all these Chinese picture frame/moulding companies realize they can cut out the middleman (Universal/Decor/DM/AMPF, etc), open a warehouse and sell directly. Completely take the legs out from under those companies. Prepare for Chaos.

They could even outsource the customer service to India.

OK, we outsource most of our factory jobs to China, because it was cheaper. Now China is starting to outsource it's factory jobs to the U.S., because it is cheaper?

Do I have this right?

Is our rust belt going to get polished and cleaned up? Is there hope for Cleavland?

Pretty soon we will have adobe factories in San Diego for supplying building materials to Mexico.

I see nothing but good times ahead for us. Assuming we will be able to see through all the nice new Chinese smokestacks dotting the countryside.

All the happy Amelican workers.

John

do you think it wouldnt happen?

things would turn around one day! who's know one day America will become what happened to China now! The world's manufacturer! cheap labour and plenty of inland...

There are two points I would like to add to this discussion. Most people will buy lower cost made in China products rather than pay for higher quality more expensive made in America merchandise. Remember when Wal-Mart advertised that they sold items made in the US? Go to Wal-Mart and try to find anything made in the US. Good luck. When we start spending our money for made in America products and leaving the made in China stuff on the shelves the tide will turn. I do not think this will happen.
Second point = corporate greed. It is too easy to take our jobs to China. There are tax breaks, incentives, empty containers going to China, tarrifs for items coming into the US and rebates from China for stuff going out. Please read this months issue of National Geographic.

Yup,but not ALL goods are second rate...yes there are knockoffs and junk, happens everywhere.I`d like to add China now outsources...TO VIETNAM,go figure.Yeah,I know what I`m talking about...Been to Chinese factories first hand 15 times so far..seen it all(OK most of it).Interestingly the factories I have visited sold/manufactured more to Europe than here!! Germany was BIG with these factories, this amazed me,because these were holiday/interior design/Christmas decor factories. P.S. if an imported item is pure carp,or unsafe, talk to the importing company..NOTHING leaves port without explicit approvals from the importing company that is having the item (s) made!!! L.

We are getting two new steel mills because of the European silliness of Carbon Cap in Trade. I sure hope that nobody, who is currrently running for president, wins.

"They don't want to miss this opportunity to bottom-fish in the U.S.," said Mei Xinyu, an economist at China's Ministry of Commerce, referring to the depressed asset prices in a sluggish American economy.

I mentioned this over a year ago and someone accused me of racism. Over the last ten years, I've been seeing neighborhood by neighborhood in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn bought up by Chinese individuals and companies. I lost an apartment when the building was bought for cash. The area where we live now was almost exclsively Jewish & Italian. Now, only one in 7 of the businesses on 86th Street have English on the sign. I have never seen a property turnover on this large a scale in this small amount of time anywhere.

But this is already happening. Take a look at the ads in the framing trades. We all know that a lot of large volume framers are going direct to China. And its not just China. Moulding and equipment companies from other countries are already opening US warehouses.

And let us not forget the poop moulding.
