Has anyone used CeeLite for backlighting? I have a project that I'm contemplating using it for, and would like to dialog with anyone who has already used it.

I already have calls into the manufacturer, but would be interested in additional experiential comments.

What are you going to use it for? Does it match the size you need? And you have the power source issue to deal with.
It is a standard item, or an actual valuable. Is heat output an issue for the art/media?

  • Backlighting fabric sandwiched between sheets of acrylic (sewn to pre-drilled back sheet)
  • Close but not exactly ... nearest size they have is AB1000, 36x48 ... ideally I would have 36x43
  • Sure ... need the CeeLite inverter, but that's no big deal
  • The fabric's probably replaceable, but not easily
  • Heat and UV are both issues, neither of which is a problem with CeeLite
One issue is that min qty for AB1000 is two! I need one.

I have used them but did not procure them. Part of some stuff that went to NAPTE. Funny enough NAPTE is the same time as the WCAF this year.

But on odd stuff like this where you have to get into it for a big pill, if it was me, if the project is the application and cust that I would guess it is for, I would shoot for 2 1/2 times of your cost to get into it for the part. You make an OK margin on the item. And have cushion for catastrophic error or miscalculation.
And in the end, you have a second that you end up as an ultra flashy instore display. That format is used a lot on the theater marquees display. So a matted 27 x 40.

Still might be good to UV the sheet of back plex. It is new tech, and the UV output as being close still might something to think about. The sheet is cool. But the inverter can heat. So riser and spacer for it. You can also bleed off a line for a DC computer fan on it.
