A new one for the G, I believe. Lady comes in with broken glass, said while away the picture fell off the wall and was laying face down on the floor for awhile so her cat started to use it as a kitty litter box .

:help:me, they are coming for me :help:,framer

Nature's Miracle is a dandy liquid that enzymatically neutralizes animal urine. If you can apply a liquid to the artwork, that is what I would use. You can get it at any pet supply store.

Peeee-yeeew!!

Nope, not a new one, Framer!
I have one here now, wrapped in plastic, waiting to be picked up after reframing.... fell off the wall and cat sprayed it. And sprayed it and sprayed it. ACK!!

Couple years ago had a woman bring in a L/E Leroy Nieman print of an outdoor NY cafe' scene. Very sentimental to her, as she and her husband had dined there once, and a bird died mid-air and landed on their table! Husband had purchased it for her before he passed away, and she had it stored under her bed, for years, between cardboard. Guess who else lived under the bed? Mr. Kitty had long-since claimed that print as his.

It was so badly stained as to be ruined (crystalized cat pee.....ewwww) but she insisted it be framed anyway, just cover the white borders with the red suede mat and purple frame to match her couch. Made my eyes water and some gagging going on while I worked on it, but she was delighted and cried when she saw it.

Whatever floats yer boat........

Edit: I'll back up Ellen's suggestion of Nature's Miracle....great stuff!

I was sketching in Piaza del Campo, Sienna. To make myself comfortable I was leaning against a post. There was a small crowd of German tourists watching me sketch. Their smiles broadened as they looked at me and my work. I was thrilled that they were so impressed by my art. Then this warmth, this moisture, on my back made me realize the truth. They were not smiling at my work .. but at the dog that had cocked his leg behind me and peed all down my back! I wish I had had some Natures Miracle with me then!

I think that is a service that I might decline - pleading no expertise in the field. I might offer to fix/reframe when it is depeed.

I guess the cat was an Art Critic.

Aren't they all.

Had one of those cute little rodeo cow dogs #### on my camera bag while I was photographing a specialty rodeo act. (The guys who ride standing up and do tricks and stuff) Turned around and caught him mid-act, tried to kick him in the butt to make him stop, but he has spent his life dodging bulls kicking, I missed and almost threw my back out. Gad zoooks what a day.

I guess the cat could be forgiven if it was a Kinkade!!

That didn't take long!!:party::party::beer:

Cat pee can get you into some serious trouble! Just take a look at the following news item:

Woman Jailed for 50 Days Over Cat Urine

Tuesday, October 9, 2007

(10-09) 18:13 PDT Tampa, Fla. (AP) --

Cynthia Hunter spent almost two months in jail over a vial of cat urine. Hunter, 38, was arrested Aug. 15 on a charge of petty theft after she was accused of stealing from a Wal-Mart store.

Deputies added charges of possession of a controlled substance after finding a vial containing a yellow substance in her purse. A drug field test suggested the substance was methamphetamine, The Tampa Tribune reported.

Hunter had protested, saying the substance was dehydrated cat urine for her son's science project and that it had been purchased at an animal clinic. She was released Thursday after lab tests found the substance was, in fact, cat urine.

Hunter pleaded guilty to petty theft and a judge gave her time served. It was not clear if she had an attorney and why the substance might have tested positive for methamphetamine.

OK I checked the art and it a print of 4 cats. Go Figure!

That cat needs to be spayed.

4 cats! Greedy little devil.

:D

...she and her husband had dined there once, and a bird died mid-air and landed on their table! Husband had purchased it for her before he passed away...

What the heck is this lady thinking? I would bury that thing so deep in the landfill that it would never again see the light of day. That thing has karma cooties! I'm not even sure the red and purple combo could exorcize them
 Rick
(I think the cat was trying to tell her something...)

I don't know if this recipe will damage your art work, but for any of you that need this recipe for animal accidents, it works like a miracle. Copy it and keep it in your files......they charge for this recipe on the internet.....I should know, I paid for it:o, but I tell you it is fool proof for animal damage.

ODOR REMOVER

16 oz. (2 cups) hydrogen peroxide
2 tsp. baking soda
2 small drops liquid dishwashing soap (Dawn, Palmolive, etc.)

Place all ingredients in a glass jar or bowl. Gently stir--do not beat or shake--until baking soda is dissolved.

If urine is fresh, be sure to blot up any excess urine with dry paper towels or a dry washcloth before the next step.

Pour mixture over urine spot, making sure to cover the entire spot. Allow mixture to completely soak the area being treated. Do not rub or scrub! Let sit for 24 hours without disturbing.

After 24 hours, take clean paper towels or a clean, white washcloth and blot up any remaining liquid (Again, do not rub or scrub.).

Allow area to air dry completely. If you are treating carpet, you can vacuum over the area when dry.

Makes 16 oz. (2 cups) of solution.

Tips:
The solution is most active for one hour after mixing. Be sure to apply the solution within this time period for maximum effectiveness.
Do not enclose the mixture in an airtight container, or you could have a big mess on your hands! The reason for this is because when the ingredients are combined they release oxygen (Remember making "volcanoes" out of baking soda and vinegar when you were a little kid? Similar principle here.).
Two alternate methods of applying the solution are using a spray bottle or a garden watering can. A spray bottle works best for applying the solution to hard surfaces like concrete or linoleum, or to vertical surfaces like walls or shower tile (This is not the best method for carpet.). Just be sure to thoroughly spray the area you are treating. A garden watering can is best for medium to large areas--indoors or outdoors.
For really tough odors, you may have to treat the area more than once. Carpet, furniture and mattresses typically require 1-2 treatments. Concrete, wood, tile and other hard surfaces usually need 3-5 treatments (1 treatment per day).
For concrete and other hard surfaces, you want to make enough of the recipe to completely cover the stain. Pour or spray the solution on and let it soak, soak, soak. Do not mop or wipe up. Let it sit for 24 hours (depending on the humidity level, it will usually evaporate during this time). Repeat the treatment once a day for 3-5 days.
For mattresses, the best thing to do is to make a double, triple or even quadruple batch of the recipe--enough to completely cover the stain--and then really pour it on. Don't be afraid of saturating the mattress. The urine has gone deep into the mattress, so you need to make sure that there's enough solution to go deep into the mattress as well. The solution has to reach the urine to neutralize it. We recommend treating the mattress in the morning so that the solution can work through the day. The mattress will often be dry enough for use by bedtime.

I have used ithe solution on rugs and it took out stains. I have also used OxiClean with good results on carpets and on rugs, it takes out stains. We had moved into a house with stains on one of the carpets in the closet and the stain came out beautifully.

This must be the Year of the Cat! I had a lady bring in a coat of arms for deacidification about a month ago. She picked it up, got it home, put it on her coffee table, and...you guessed it, the cat went up to it and peed all over it! She brought it back and I sandwiched it between multiple layers of paper towels, I'm going across the street right now to get that Nature's Miracle! Thanks all!

I am amazed at what customers will bring into our stores and expect us to take care of. How disgusting. I would refuse to touch. I have enough trouble with mold and old dusty crap - I would not subject myself to cat urine. No way. Uh uh. Get it out of here.

On a personal level, we learned a trick from a friend who had a lot of rental property with renters that were allowed animals - found that if they pee'd on the floors or anywhere, the use of original Listerine was a combatant for neutralizing the odor and keeping the animal from spraying/peeing there again. We have had to use it on the outside of our house/garage over the years as the barn cats from across the street found something really attractive about our house. There are no longer cats living in the old barns... thankfully!!

If it's a print can you get a replacement one?

If its a photo can a photog reprint it for you?

I picked up a Little Tykes workbench at our swapshop at our transfer station, (I miss the old days when you could just say I picked it up at the dump!) that I found out later had been sprayed. Smell never goes away, no matter the miracle method used :) ! And if the cat is still in the house what's to really stop him from remarking it?

To really, successfully get rid of the smell get rid of the print. Worked for the Little Tykes workbench! That was back at the dump the very next day! I'd bringg the print there as well.
