Hello,

I just picked up a Cassese CS3099 today. I was trying to program in a few moulding settings to get familiar with the machine.
The underpinner I've been using for 19 years is a CS810. Very mechanical, and quite simple to repair. In this way, the CS3099 is a bit daunting.

The instruction manual reads: The width of the moulding -without the rebate- and the stapling position (for the wedge) are measured in millimetres perpendicularly (at 90°) to and starting from the outside of the moulding.

I put in a few v-nail positions, and the machine doesn't want to cooperate. It's putting v-nails in the wrong positions, and/or missing the moulding altogether.

Any ideas why this might be happening?

Yes, I've watched this video many times.
I'm entering the v-nails on the screen correctly, but when it comes time to join the corner, the positions are wrong.

I think you may need to recalibrate the zero (origin) point for your wedge position distance calculation in your machine - especially given the fact it may have recently been transported and shipped.

I believe this can be done in the background of the maintenance part of the software - but will require some passwords to access.

I cannot help you any further with this; other than to suggest that you contact an experienced, authorised technical support person from a local Cassese Distributor.

Thanks Jared,

I've managed to join a few trial corners. In general, I find the automated nature of this machine overkill for what I need or prefer.
(I guess you don't know until you try...) I am looking at ordering a 299 MXL2. Just pricing out a few suppliers. I do like to control and simplicity of a more mechanical underpinner. Luckily, I'm able to return the CS3099.

The vee nail positions are measured from the back of the moulding. Make sure you aren't measuring from the inside of the moulding.

I had one of these for about 7 years and sold it recently when I retired. My second favourite machine! Loved it!
Overkill?.....Not in my opinion! It saved me a lot of time.
Don't be too hasty in giving it back. Learn to set it up properly and give it a good run for a few weeks. You will probably learn how good it is.
