I’m posting for someone else. Machine will clamp, but when the pedal is fully pressed, nothing happens. Video attached. Any ideas? I’ve been trying to troubleshoot with them remotely but it’s a bit difficult when the machine is not in front of me.
Any help appreciated.

Manual says “clamp badly set” but it doesn’t not seem to be from the video.

The moulding detector switch thinks there is no moulding on the bed of the table so won’t allow the firing sequence to start, the switch is under the aluminium cover with the blue sticker of someone reading a manual.
This is a common problem on that model.

I don't know about the rest of you but to me that's bug, not a feature. My U-400 (and my previous vn-42) allows you to fire without a moulding or only one leg. That's invaluable when you have an issue and need to test. I think I saw a trouble shooting video that featured this ability to fire without a moulding.

Thank you so much Mark! ill pass that information along. Do you happen to know if thats a simple fix, or will we need to find a part online somewhere?

Many owners decide to by-pass the moulding detecting feature by linking the two switch pipes together or by placing a cable tie around the switch lever.

(Its not the switch that has failed it is just the switch activator that is no longer aligned correctly or you are joining a very soft moulding which allows the clamp jaws to penetrate too deep hence triggering the switch)

Hi mark. I got him so send me a picture of the switch case. Does anything appear off?

You need to see if the switch is being fully depressed when moulding is being clamped (your pics don’t show this)

It is the slotted aluminium piece with two cap screws at the top of the switch which deactivates the moulding safety function, the slot in the aluminium allows for the adjustment of this feature and may need adjusting so the switch is fully depressed when the moulding is clamped.

Does this mean the clamp is required? Occasionally you need to join without the clamp.
Cassese cs20 underpinners always require the horz clamp to be making firm contact with the moulding in order to fire the wedge (unless the switch is by-passed)

This is definitely the answer! He is very close to getting it, he sent me a new video but i believe when he repositioned it, he was not in the clamp position. Hes going to try to reposition it again in the morning. this time with the lever in the pre clamp position. Does this sound correct? We really appreciate all your help on this! you saved us a lot of headaches troubleshooting.

Yup they are tricky little sods to set correctly.

Should you or anyone else in the future want to by-pass the switch then this is all you need do:
(the clamp will still work as it should)

They ended up using a braided grounding cable for the “tie down” fix. Again, we really appreciate your help and hopefully if someone has this problem in the future they will find this thread.
