I have a piece in for framing that is a signed piece of art that appears to be on a vinyl canvas. Has anyone encountered this material before.

If so, how do I handle this? I do not think I want to put in the heat press... so what would the preferred method be?

Thanks,

Roz

I did one about a year ago - a 28x28" piece that was printed, like a giclee, on vinyle-covered fabric. There was quite a wide margin (2" or more) outside the printed area that was covered by the mat. I used Stitchery tape (3/4") across that top, unseen edge, like a hinge, to suppot the weight and hold it in place. The rest was left loose and was supported/held in place by the window mat.

Maybe not the "best" way to do it, but it worked for me.

Sounds like "pongee cloth" or "poly cloth" both of which are intended to be stretched over trade show tube frames, or used as banners, curtains, flags, screens etc. These are not intended to be mounted. Best bet might to be stretch it onto a thin plywood panel, staple it on the back. Should probably have a barrier sheet between the plywood and cloth.

Could also be a piece of regular canvas with plastic lamination applied. Would have to defer to others on that one, but I doubt if you would want to dry mount it.

The customer does not want a mat on this... which now puts me in a corner... what about perfect mount?

I hate when this happens!
