We just received come canvases from Top Art. I was expecting these to be printed directly on the canvas, but it looks like a canvas transfer as the edges ,which are wrapped around the stretcher bars, do not lay flat. There are slight ripples and you can see the ripples in the print edge where it touched the canvas on the sides. I am going to paint the sides, and am concerned that these images will buckle more.

I need sugggestions on how to fix these ripples, as I have never dealt with canvas transfers.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

ended up adding a bit of elmers glue aound the bad edge, and painting them.

Just have to give Top Art an "A" for their prompt handling my "issue" call, including setting me up with the manufacturer of the transfer product - all within about 1 hour.

Great service - thanks Top Art.

Speaking of art on canvas, I ordered sample gallery wrap and museum wrap canvases (12 x 12) from Lieberman's and CAP. On the Lieberman's product, I asked for brushstrokes. Quality was similar from both companies, (I had alrady tried BruceMcGaw) but the texture from Liebermans was almost sticky, tacky to the touch and not realistic looking at all--more like a pattern of application which was uniform across the small canvas.

I don't have much of a market for these so far, but I am testing the waters.

Has anyone else had good or bad experiences with canvas prints from the major companies?

So far Artaissance has been the best that I have seen, but I don't have a lot to compare to. McGaw don't put a coating on unstretched canvases, which is a disadvantage.

They wouldn't be a canvas transfer if the art was printed directly on the canvas, it would be a digital print, aka giclee. The difference in the price would have also been much greater if your expectations for the printing were met. I'm pleased you are happy with Top Art's response. It's good to get the positive feedback when a plain old grumble is all some would offer.
