If you have a JoAnne ETC, Michaels, Hobby Lobby, or other craft store in your neighborhood, give them a call and ask them to refer their custom framing customers to you.

If that idea seems absurd, consider that they are -- or soon will be -- turning away custom framing customers because their deadline for placing orders to their production facilities has past.

My three bigbox craft store neighbors all stopped taking Christmas orders earlier this week. And when I called, all three of their framing shop managers thanked me for offering to accommodate their customers.

Go ahead -- do them a favor.

Wow Thank you! I just called a Michaels about 15 miles from me and got a very positive response from the manager. Thanks!

After helping the manager of one of the local big boxes, they now keep a stack of my business cards up front. I go by every few weeks and say hi and check out the card supply. I often get referrals for the odd jobs that the store just doesn't want to handle, and of course, the holiday biz.

That's a great idea, I have a customer coming in tomorrow with an old Gibson guitar, autographed. My limitations far exceed his needs. This piece holds alot of value and requires more expertise then I have and it would be a huge risk. I'm east of Cleveland, in Mayfield Hts., OH.

Yes call the Craft stores !~ The Micheals is closeing Here!~ Guess we were to much competition for them !~ Ya right!~

Just call Gemini Moulding/Showcase Acrylics in Chicago. They have several acrylic box frame designs that work beautifully with guitars. Do you want the frame to open for removal/replacement of the instrument? No problem.

Here's another great Craft store tip for year around results. They order everything chop. Call the manager and offer to cut down moulding that comes in the wrong size for free in exchange for oversize and complex order referals.

Very good Rick...will keep that in mind...especially for the summer when I am on layoff...better start talking to them now
