In another post ( http://www.thegrumble.com/showthread.php?56290-Morso-Users-Manual ) obtaining manuals for a Morso Chopper was discussed and I volunteered to host the manuals that were obtained.

Looking for manuals seems to be an ongoing topic here in grumbleLand so I would like to expand my manual page to include as many equipment manuals as I can get my grubby little hands on.

Some manufacturers such as Fletcher have their manuals posted online but are there at the whims of the manufacturer. Obsolete and older models may not be shown.

In addition, there is a lot of discontinued equipment (my Chronomat for one) that has no manuals in PDF form available. I'm thinking about scanning my manual and turning it into a PDF for this. Of course first I have to learn how to make a PDF. That will be the topic of my next post.

So if you have any PDFs of other manuals (other than the Fletcher ones shown at http://www.fletcherviscom.com/manuals.shtml - I will be harvesting those ), let me know and I will get them up there.

Email me at larry @ my web site name shown below . com

Manuals for obsolete and discontinued manuals are most requested. Any other reference material in PDF for that might be of use to the framing community is also welcome.

Thanks to Rick Bergeron we now have the manuals for the Fletcher F-6100 Computerized Mat Cutter up there now.

Just be careful about copyright infringements, even for obsolete models. For companies out of business, maybe it wouldn't matter.

Just be careful about copyright infringements, even for obsolete models. For companies out of business, maybe it wouldn't matter.

Many companies' manuals are posted at one time or another online. Few of these manuals have copyright notices or say just "All Rights Reserved".

Anything that has ever been posted online is fair game as nothing prevents copying. I will check for any copyrights that prohibit reproduction but I can't image any company having any objection to their manuals being available online.

I have looked at PDF manuals from ITW, Fletcher and Bienfang and none have a copyright.

We aren't talking about art or other product where a copyright is important. Operating Manuals are something that have no commercial or monetary value other than to support a product that a customer has purchased.

I took a look at the manuals for personal items that I have such as Air Conditioners, Freezers, Tools, TVs, etc. Almost none of them had any copyright notices and those that did were limited to the "All Rights Reserved" copyright.

For these types of products there are numerous third party website that are devoted to nothing more than serving up manuals.

Go to a site like http://www.manualsonline.com/ and look up something you own and let them serve up your manual - copyright free.

If no one objects to these sites ( and there many ), then my little effort should garner no notice.

BTW, my little effort is at http://www.thepaperframer.com/manuals.php

There are no menu links to it on my site as I wish to keep it hidden from the casual riffraff that use my site.

Thanks for doing this. There are some pretty obscure tools out there and this could be helpful for owners of those tools. A friend of mine has the original manual for the Hendrixson head..I'll try to get him to lend it to me to scan. It's something like 34 pages of instruction on using the mat cutter head. Bob Hendrixson was no slouch.

Keep those cards and letters coming.

I have another thread going about creating PDFs out of this stuff. For things that I can scan, my scanner will scan direct to a PDF. I'm going to have to figure out how to convert a bunch of images from something like you are doing into a PDF.

Larry-

You should receive an e-mail from my Dropbox asking you to join. I have started a new folder called Equipment Manuals and will add to it on a regular basis as it takes time to scan an upload. You can get the PDF's of the manuals I have scanned there.

So far I put in some oldies but goodies-

The original CIA mat cutter manual
The C & H CHN Series of mat cutters (4060 a/b 4800 a/b 6000 a)
The C & H G60 Wall Cutter

I have lots more including the original Keeton Kutter and Duplicator (though my original was not great quality) and two older Seal Vacuum Presses including the original one designed by Greg Fremsted.

I also have GAST Vacuum Pump Manuals and Senco Manuals for most fitting and pinning guns used by framers. Would you like those too?

Also CTD D45 AX and FX Manuals do you want those too?

I probably have the C & H G60 wallcutter manual....for what it was worth. Seemed to me like someone Xeroxed it on the back of a napkin and put it in my shipping box.....that last loosely defined.

Most newer versions of Photoshop will allow you to save images as a multi page PDF. It's under FILE-AUTOMATE-PDF PRESENTATION. Select the images you want, put them in the correct order, then follow the rest of the instructions. We do it all the time with our catalog/pricelists.

I'm going to have to figure out how to convert a bunch of images from something like you are doing into a PDF.

If you have Adobe Acrobat (full version, not Reader) you can create a PDF directly from most image files, i.e. JPG, GIF, PNG, PS, etc. Just "Create" > "PDF From File..." and pick the images. This creates multiple individual page PDFs. Then you do "Combine" > "Merge Files into a Single PDF" and click the "Add Files" button. You can then add by location, or "All Open Files", etc.

Of course, if Wally (or whoever) can scan directly to PDF so much the better/easier.

It sounds like a great idea. I know its frustrating for company that are gone.

I have several C&H mat cutter PDFs from Rob and Mark to add today. Keep 'em coming.

Larry,

I’ve got a manual for the Pistorius VN-J although many pages are second generation photocopies so they won’t be pristine (although I can do a “birth certificate long form” :D and spruce them up, I think).

I doubt that Pistorius will sue for copyright infringement.

I also have a C&H Oval Master which should scan well.

Need either of both?

Yes to both.

BTW folks if you don't have a scanner or are even lazier than me and don't want to scan, you can send me your manual and I will scan it and return it promptly.

You can mail them to me at home at:

Updates

I have added a number of manuals for

Jyden
C&H
Kooltack/Seal/Bienfang
ITW
Fletcher
Phaedra
Pistorious

Bill is sending me a CD for the Pistorius VN-J and C&H Oval Master (too large for email)

Take a look and see if there are any you can contribute. The Pistorus MN manuals would be great along with Canvas stretchers and any other ones you can think of - obsolete and discontinued especially.

It doesn't look as if I can post any of the currently available CMC manuals as all require ownership of a CMC to download a manual.

Dave, Got the compressed manual for the C&H. Looks great Compressed from 20 down to 5 MB.

It's up on the site now. If you want to take a try at any of the other hefty heifers up, feel free.

Thanks,
Larry

Larry - I uploaded new files all about the old Keeton Mat Kutter and The Keeton Wall Kutter to the dropbox. Look for anything that starts with Keeton - I think there are 5 PDF's in there.

Are you looking for old stuff too, Larry?

I have the manuals for CHN4060A...which is still working well for me.

Also, Pistorious VN-M 1182. And an old Vacuseal if your interested.
OvalMaster 789A.

I am sure there are more, I don't throw stuff out, it's all in binders.

Just found directions to an Umsco Blocking board. Didn't know I had that.

A Scotch ATG 751 ATG applicator, which I still have. It's a trendy maroon color. The applicator not the manual.

The original manual for my Morso (#30519).

I have manuals for stuff I don't even know where the 'stuff' even is...around here somewhere I suppose.

Are you looking for old stuff too, Larry?

The Manuals page is supposed to be the answer whenever a framer asks the question:

"Where can I find a manual for.................???"

I will take anything you have that is framing related and not already on the Manuals page.

Everything needs to be in PDF format for the page. If all you have are printed copies, you can mail them to me at:

thePaperFramer.Com
75 Mary St
Ashley, PA 18706

Send them sandwiched between two sheets of cardboard for protection. I will scan them and send them right back.

If you have PDFs that are of reasonable size, you can email them to me.

what a GREAT resource!

Do you mind if I link to it from my framer's resources page?

New Manuals

And to David Cozadd we have a manual for the DeVilbiss Nailer .

Now up to about 125 manuals at the Manuals Page

Keep those cards and manuals coming.

Larry thanks for having such a great idea..and for putting together such a resource. It's helpful to all of us.

larry look me up I know of a strip club with wi-fi.... that is I heard a rumour that they have it....LOL

I'm afraid my strip club days are over. There is one in Wilkes Barre that I drive by all the time and have never had an inkling to go in.

I don't even go out to bars anymore. Last year my total consumption of alcohol was probably less than a bottle of wine. None so far this year.

Sad, but when I stopped chasing loose women, I pretty much stopped drinking. Hummmmmmmmm.

Hansen Chopper Manual Added

Thanks to Fred Mendoza we have a manual for the Hansen Chopper

Now up to about 126 manuals at the Manuals Page

Keep those cards and manuals coming.
