Wanted C & H replacement springs?

Item Wanted
I have saved a spring or two by bending out the last coil at the broken-off end with needlenose pliers to make a new loop. You can stretch the spring out a little to lessen the tension if you need to. Also, many hardware stores carry a selection of springs. Take the old one with you and buy a couple of similar ones and try them out. It's not that critical that it be OEM.

thanks

I found them with neilsen but they were about $7 each! I think I'll check Ace hardware first. I've been bending and reusing them for twelve years. I think I'll just buy new ones this time ;) thanks for your help

McMaster -Carr

this company sells springs in all sizes and i found the website very very user friendly. their .187 x .0230 x 1 works well (if a bit loose) .35 tension is toooooo tight and hurt my hand. at $1/ spring (that's with shipping) they allow returns if they aren't right, and since they are, this pack of 12 will last me ... let's see (seven feet is 84" so seven years x 12 springs = 84 years) 84 more years. If I'm still framing by then some one put me in a shadow box and call it a day.

You can have one of mine I'm in Chagrin. I live in Cleveland Hts but I'm working until 11PM every night.. can tape one to your door or something. Or you can pick up in Chagrin today or downtown CLE tomorrow. Send a PM if you want.
