Does anyone make upgrade heads for C&H mat cutters? I have an older C&H that is like new, And I would like to get the most from it, both in terms of performance and longevity.

United MFRs continues to support the old C&H. In their catalog (near the back) there is a parts list for two of the blocks. They would probably be able to help.

But, by an “upgrade” do you mean one with back up lights and build in GPS? I’m not too sure that those are out yet. :)

There was a replacement head that I viewed at a fellow framers shop that was made by someone other than C&H. I think it was Keeton? It was a very nice item, and I was hoping to find it or something similar.

If the cutter you have is one of the first which uses the no notch razor blades, I don't think you will find a new head. We tried one once but it would not work.

You could always go to the source, C+h and see if they could help you, or go to Keeton and see what they say. In order to make it easier for all involved, you will wan the model number and mybe even the serial number, so you get the right parts for the right cutter.

C+H Head

Having been in charge of the C+H technical services department for ten years I can tell you that if your C+H cutter has a brown baseboard, then there are no parts available for that cutter. It has been over 20 years since they manufactured that style. And, the old Keeton heads that were available for C+H, have not been in production for even longer than that. Call Gritsko, at Nielsen & Bainbridge, and he can tell you what is available, and what isn't (800) 631-5414 ext. 3243.

The head you saw at your friend's shop is probably a Hendrixson head. They were made for a very short while for the Keeton Kutter. Bob Hendrixson designed the head, and was working on an upgraded bar when Keeton went out of business.
