Ok, I finally took the plunge and bought a press. It is a Seal 210. 18.5 X 23 inches. I have never used a press, and want to kind an idea of all that it can do. I do know it's useful for reactivating fabric glue when doing fabric wrapping. And drymounting. What are all the materials needed for dry mounting? Tissues, all that stuff. What is the best methods, or rather, what do you all find works the best, for drymounting. I'd like to put together a shopping list of what I need from United, in order to use this long awaited tool to it's maximum potential.

Thanks,
dave.

My preferred product for drymounting is Speedmount. Foamboard and adhesive, all in one. Works for most of the things you'll be drymounting -- posters & photographs. Works at low heat, so it's safe for inkjet photos. You'll need to cool under weight, so get a sheet of tempered glass.

All you need is some heat activated foam board. If you want to do fabric mats pick up some heat activated liquid (Laminall etc.) and roll that on. Don't forget release paper or release boards are more convenient. No need for any type of tissue until you have played a bit and find a specific need.

A minute later your in business. Check your thermostat with test strips and adjust accordingly.

Pick up a copy of Chris Paschke's book, "The Mounting and Laminating Handbook". It describes all of the various adhesive products, plus methods. A great resource.

Make sure you cover pizza with aluminum foil when reheating in the press. You don't need any of the grease on the platen...

Yes and if you happen to be in Texas in May come to the Lone Star Picture Framers' Conference and ask Chris Paschke all of your mounting questions in person.

(Sorry guys I'll stop talking about the trade show after it is over! It is just too good to miss)

Thanks for the advice on the book. I will check into it.

Never, you crack me up. I'm impressed with your determination.

HAHAHA! Laminal!?!?! I don't even know her! You, know, I could send the heat press back, and just hold things up to Nora. That should work!
