Just a small town
Is a $1600 day a good day? Had a customer come in the shop from Texas today... Spent $700 on 2 pictures. (I live in Northern VT - they own homes in TX and VT)

Another customer - $500 to cut six mats, uv-glass, and acid free foam - then put in the customer's own frames. Only problem with this job - several of these nice prints are of OBAMA! ;)

Customer from Mass. spent about $280 on framing 2 pictures.

$400.00 printing job.

Oriental silk for about $225 +/-

Plus a few other small frame jobs!

Now I got to get the work done!...

Well, since the market took a dump, today was the first decent day we have had. I have had several days that exceeded todays total, both of them were one customer days. I get the feeling that those were lucky days.

Today, however, we had a great traffic count and took in a lot of work. I had one customer who flat out refused to give me a deposit on a little $80.00 order. He claimed that I had insulted him by asking for one from 'him', he then asked "are you that desperate for money?" I explained to him that I always charge a deposit, no matter who the customer is. I then said that if I had insulted him that I did not want the order. I said I don't want to work for anyone who does not like doing business with me or the way I conduct my business.

His wife said "lets just go". Then he decides to give me the deposit. The term 'real jerk' comes to mind. He insults me, then does the same to his wife. I did take the order, then as he was leaving I told him I am a retailer, of course I'm desperate for money. That got a chuckle out of him, so I reckon all is OK.

I feel like things might start getting back to normal pretty soon after all of todays activity.

I started out yesterday very slow, so much that I went and double checked the front door to make sure it was unlocked. But then I ended up with 4 sales yesterday, 2 were for $30 ea. The other 2 came to over $2500. One order was for 2 20x24 photos with suede mats and MG that came in just over $1000 and the other was for 11 various jobs that came to $1500. It just goes to show that it doesn't take a lot of customers to have a great day just the right ones.
