we've seen a drastic slow down since 6/1 ...about the time gas hit almost $4 gallon.

......we are so slow that we are as busy as an Amish electrician.....

how about you?

It had been very slow up until this week and I really don't want to question it too much ...just hope things continue. No great big jobs, just a steady flow of medium size onesy twosey type things.

Funny thing is that I look back on the work taken in this week and over half of them have MG glazing! That helps dramatically.

If it's slow hang in there. Focus on getting all those things done that you've put off because you didn't have the time before.

Attitude is what gets you through the horse latitudes of business or leaves you languishing.

the Amish electrician is almost as busy as the Amish TV repairmen

I had my best day since we opened at this location on Tuesday. Have yet to see a person walk into the store today though. I have scrapbooking supplies and yarn here, no one wants that either.

The Amish won't take power off the grid, but there is no rule that they can't use electricity. they can have dc systems, PV, hydro, or personal generators. So am Amish Electrician would be a good person to know as they would have experience with different alternative power systems.

They'd still be hard as #### to find though!

how an Amish auto repair shop...that's how busy we have been the last week

Well, the first person of the day just came in with a list of stuff she needed, moulding, mats, spray adhesive, and um.. cardboard. She was going to take it all to her framer to be framed.

grrrrrr

I was staying with a freind a while back out in Amish country, they where always stopping by at 6a.m. to use his telephone.

It's a little slow, not dead, let's me get caught up, clean, work on shop projects.

I am so slow that I am thinking about setting up a pay web site with a web cam: The Naked Framer...

2400, Got a web address yet? I'm slow enough to go and look...................I say this no knowing if you are male or female, but either way curiosity would get the best of me anyway.

June is ALWAYS the slowest month here (no schools, people leaving for their summer homes, etc).

But yesterday and today weren't bad at all. Let's hope June doesn't live up to it's reputation (I was planning to close for a week-10 days and chill out if it is slow as usual).

I don't mind if it ruins my plans!

Sloooowww.

It's pretty slow for me right now, but it usually slows down around this time of the year for me. I'll use the down time to finish up some new displays and put things in order. Still getting some small stuff so I don't go to sleep. :kaffeetrinker_2:

At least my show schedule is good...best Memorial day weekend yet (Marcon, Columbus Oh.)!! Now if the nice customer with the $2k order would finish paying me,so I could ship his big, honkin boxes out.......Sometimes I`m sooo happy(sorry Val) that I don`t have a store...Not much overhead ya know.Work at my house?....Uh,lets just say I sleep in the studio, more true than not...always has been here 25+ years so far....L.:icon21:

We're busier than Hillary's Finance Mgr ducking collection calls

Okay, we're not busy, but that's got to be one tough job right now

Not slow here... still ticking. The ONLY time i have had a "slow period" every year has been the last two weeks of July because of school starting... teachers going back to work, parents shopping for school supplies, clothing, etc. But, when these two weeks are over, it's "catchup" time for my customers. This is why we take our "vacation" each year (started this in 1999) in the last full week of July. This year we will be closed from :kaffeetrinker_2: July 20th thru 28th and reopening on July 29th. I like this slow but short period, it gives us a summer "bReAk".

We just passed last year in "year to date" sales. I didn't think that would happen this year - for a while we were way behind. March was dead, dead, dead. I thought things were picking up here because heating bills are gone for now.

I've been slow off and on... for a couple weeks there I had almost no customers. This week things are picking up. I had a few orders the last coupld of days and a really big one today, so things are looking up even if it is just ofr the week.

I think I'm lucky though - I bought the shop in September (the economy was better then), so I have no idea what a really good month is supposed to be like - therefore there is very little panicking!

Things have been funny here. My "walk-in" retail trade is off and has been almost since Thanksgiving. It has had moments of brilliance, but in the end the numbers have been down. What is keeping me from really feeling it is a very steady flow of commercial work. That has been saving my hide at the moment. But as you know it's done at lower margines so it just aint cuttin' it.

So far this year I am down about 10%, but that all came in January and February. Man, February was a tough month. Hope I don't ever have another one like that anytime soon. If I could take that out, I would be within a few points of LY's gross sales.

My advertising/marketing efforts have been about the same as LY, but obviously that isn't getting it done. The one thing that helps me feel "slightly" better about this is that I know that the two "Big Guys" in my market are feeling it too. Some of it just might be beyond our control. I have lost the businesses on either side of me and they went out in the fall of last year, plus the town has started a MAJOR roadway construction project on my street. This is effecting many of the other businesses on the street as well. My wife works at a Trader Joe's a 1/2 mile away and their sales are off too.

Doesn't help me any, but like they say, "Missery loves company."

I had my best day since we opened at this location on Tuesday.

Did you open this tuesday?

I've been slower for about two weeks. I did start a large project and have framed non-stop for 3 days and I should go in tomorrow. Overall my year is still hovering around 40% up.

I guess I should have written that Tuesday I had my best day since we opened in this location.:)

Sometimes the fingers and thoughts don't go at the same pace.

I've actually been steadily busy in here since the end of February. My busy season is the summer anyhow but based on what everyone is saying bout the economy, I'm not seeing it.
