I have several sizes of burnishing bones, but need to replace one.

In just about every catalog I can find (e.g. UMS) they all have a dull pointed end like

But, the one I need to replace has a more or less flat, smooth edge on both ends.

Anyone know where I can find such a beast?

Or you can use and rounded, hard-plastic object. I always wondered if these things really work, or if it's just placebo effect.

Top of my thumbnail.

My favorite burnishing instrument.

Ack! I just looked at mine. I would not be a candidate for Women's Manicure of the Year.

I'm so glad.:p

Neschen

Bill,

How about Neschen Teflon Burnishing Bone (number 6003796)? Looks like one you're looking for.
I can send you a picture if you like.

I just started using a Teflon Burnishing Bone and it is great. When fine tuning a corner it leaves NO shiny spots at all. After all it is made of actual teflon. I am quite pleased with it.

Who would have thought that a burnishing bone, the simplest to ever devised - excluding the "rock-hammer" - could be improved upon. Perhaps we'll have the Wizard Automated Burnisher" in the not too distant future.:)

The best burnishing bones that you can get are made for book making. Try a Fine Art supply. There are many different kinds of burnishing bones, and all have different uses.
