Looking for some input on comparing the Brevetti MAXI double mitre saw to CTD's version of this saw. I gather that Brevetti is just about the best there is, but is it really worth the money vs the CTD?

I can speak well for the Brevetti Prisma Maxi, but I have no experience with any of the competitors (Pistorius, CTD, or Imnes). The suggestion would be to get thee to a trade show where you can compare them first hand.
Brevetti did develop the technology for the sliding blade saw, but that's not to say any of the competitors don't imitate it well.

Saws.................

I would agree with Wally. You would either have to have personal cutting knowledge with both or have sold both to be able to answer that one.

I think seeing each one cut, firsthand, and comparing options would be the best.

We use Pistorius and ITW Amp and I like them both because they do different jobs, each very well. I am sure both you are looking at do great work as well. Good luck.

I’ve never used a Brevetti so I can't offer you anything on that but I bought a CTD this past year and I LOVE IT!!!!!! Of course I was using just a regular construction grade DeWalt saw previously so of course I was impressed, but I'm sure any well built double miter saw will produce user satisfaction. From what I've seen so far, my CTD seems to be extremely well built, durable and easy to use.

I don't have experience with the sliding saws but can say that CTD makes some of the best saws in the industry. CTD has been building precision equipment sold to machine shops for many decades before they entered the picture framing industry.

Trying them out for yourself is very important but I would not doubt the quality and precision of CTD for a moment.

I looked at both CTD and Brevetti. At the time CTD had just introduced a model similar to the Maxi. I ended up choosing a Brevetti, largely based on price. I liked the look of the CTD's engineering, but my Brevetti is now several years old, and still does an excellent job.

Have you looked at other options? If I were buying today, I would take a hard look at the Inmes 300PL. On the face of it a lot of machine for not a lot of money.
