Does anyone know where to get break resistant glass that filters out UV rays? I heard that Sandel and Image Perfect used to make a laminated break resistant glass but don't anymore. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Never heard of it, would that be a tempered glass?
I think if I was looking for it I would start with the glass companies.
If you come across it, would you post it on the forum? I think that would be a great item to have available, maybe not though, I've always used UV plexi when I wanted break resistant glass (baby rooms, hotels, saloons, collectables, etc.)still, it would be nice to have a scorce.

What I believe you are talking about was not break resistant, but the lamination kept the broken glass more together, reducing the chnce that a pointy shard would stab through the art.

Sandel did market such a thing while I was working for a distributor in the early 90s, but I cannot for thr life of me recall the product name.

Denglass Technologies, subsidiary of Denton Vacuum, made laminated product until they merged with Sandel. Sandel had their own laminated products in the "preservation series" Some of these combined the anti-reflective feature similar to the Tru Vue A/R product in combination with a UV filtering acrylic laminate.
Denglass' UV product had some problems with inclusions, and they at one point tried to use the waterwhite glass in this line to no avail. Denglass' product consisted of two coated pieces of 2mm glass sandwiching a 1/16" acrylic sheet.
Sandel's product had a single lite of glass that was laminated to the acrylic.
While both products could be broken, they held together because of the acrylic laminate much like safety glass in a car. Both products could be cut to size in the shop, but the manufacturers recomended that they be ordered to size. Denglass' was special order only.
I have used all these products at one time or another, and as far as I know, they are no longer available.
I would like to find a glazing product that incorporates all of the features: waterwhite glass, non-reflective coating, and UV protection, but have been unable to locate.
Sandel seems to have dropped off the map, and though I read an article about Denglass in a recent trade publication, I have been unable to communicate with them. Not answering their emails.

Schott Glass Germany have an execellent range of laminated UV protect glass for picture framers, have no idea if they have distrbution in the USA will try and find out more details, there products are used by Art Gallerys and Museums in Europe.
