Has anyone any good ideas for the use of a blog in a small business

I have had to set one up for my KESP training......but I'm not sure what it could be used for in a small business......it a bit foggy what use it would be..

This is what I set up... all comments welcome... http://kespwicklow.blogspot.com/

I would suggest a good web site rather than a blog.

My prejudice coming out, but I associate blogs with either crackpots who bay at the moon with some ax to grind or self-indulgent “look at me” types who simply want to get noticed.

Blogs are typically interactive and encourage participation (rants, usually) from other people of the same ilk. I don’t know of any serious businesses that use blogs rather than web sites.

And, blogs are typically updated every few days – an awful lot of work to keep it fresh and to keep people coming back.

Thanks Bill

I’m on the same page as you......

I’m foggy as to what good use a blog would have for a small business........but as this is for the training I’m doing at present ....I’m going with the plan....

Given the high level of responses most threads get on the Grumble and quite quickly......I think after that the response or lack of response that this thread about blogs has got ......is saying a lot........that most people are having difficulty seeing how a blog fits with a small business.....

I value the people on the G.......and I think that the responses in general that most threads get.....is quite representative of the global view of things.....out there in the business world......and in particular for small business....

The way I see it, a blog is a rudimentary type of a forum.

A forum is a much more efficient way of creating, responding and searching posts.

This forum is a prime example.

Murray Raphael (sp?) and his son (?) now have a blog in addition to their website - and so far it is very informative - just little tidbits on marketing, same as in their e-newsletter (or as in Murray's old articles in ?) only they add to it more frequently.
