Why are some topics on the grumble blocked from being seen by quests? Posts items for sale for example.

Are you . . . !?

That was a serious question?

Please. 142 posts and you ask that question?

I'd like to know the real cost of manufacturing a Hummer, but do you really thing I could go on line and fetch that info?

OK, I'm feeling a tug on my left leg here... oops, nope, it was just the cat. :D

Actually, the for sale posts were public.that`s how I found this "place".I was googling used equipment, and stumbled into a text only version of the sales, and lurked for quite a while too!I really do understand the shift to members only though,I work wholesale out there as well! L.

I moved one of your posts last night, which was a self posted customer testimonial to promote your company offerings. The post was reported by multiple grumblers both here and in the chat room, within minutes.

It wasn't deleted, and you were not suspended, but I did move it to the appropriate forum. Since you have been here a while, and know the policy about such things, I assumed it was merely a mistake.

I just realized you may also be asking about the 20+ posts we erased overnight, some of which were in some of your ads. Those were spammers, and all of them mentioned the same "power levelling" site and "world of warcraft". We routinely remove spam from the system, and ban the spammers. It is usually done so quickly that no one even notices.

Mike you are truely amazing

the time you contribute to this endeavor behind the scenes to support us is truly appreciated by all of us who have been around to enjoy the grumble...

Many thanks

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

ALL of the moderators and Bill McKay contribute equally, just as all of you do with your posts and open sharing of info.

That's what makes a great forum, folks!

Thx
Mike

And can I add my thanks fromthe other side of the pond!
A great forum.......
It saddens me that there are still so many framers all over the world who still have no idea this Forum even exists.

I've talked to framers at trade shows who do not participate in The Grumble because they don't find it "professional" enough.

They don't understand the use of anonymous user names. They can't relate to the off-topic chatter. They believe their time is too valuable to talk about squirrels and dog farts and Girls Scout cookies.

But there is a reason people continue to participate long after we've left the industry behind. It's a community of personalities - not always in agreement, but always interesting and nearly always entertaining.

I've made some real-life friends here, in addition to the cyber friends - friends who have celebrated and grieved with me and humored me for the past seven years.

If a forum does not have a sponsor it is blocked from guest view. Blocking those forums encourages guests to register to see what's going on in those forums. It works, trust me. Would you like to sponsor the For Sale Forum?

The best reason to join the Grumble is to learn. I learn something new on the Grumble almost every day. I just read through the stretching silk thread and learned something new. I avoided Warped for a long time, but now I sometimes take a look ;-)

Thanks to the moderators and Bill for the work you do. You have made me a better frame shop owner, that's for sure.

I have asked how to purchase an add banner and the cost in the past but no one ever replied. Any ideas why? I would be glad to sponsor a forum if someone wants to let me know what the conditions are.

I don't mind that you moved my topic Mike. As a vendor I walk a fine line on this forum. I posted the customer reply where I did originally for the exact reasons written on this thread: There are many framer that are not on the grumble even though we would like them to be. But I am fine with the move.

I asked about the blocked topics because like someone else wrote on this thread - that is how they found the G in the first place. I also think that in these financial times more and more people are selling things and the members who are selling things would like to get that post seen by the largest possible audience. These are just my thoughts. No worries.

P.S. All of the moderators do a great job keeping spam off of this site. Thank you.

Mark, you need to reply to the above posts by UzZx32Q if you want to sponsor this forum or buy an ad. UzZx32Q, is the owner and inventor of the Grumble.

Bill McKay has been a little busy lately. (Good for him! Busy frameshop!)

That being said, try e-mailing him about add banners. I am sure he will get back in touch as soon as he has time.
