Good morning Grumblers
I have a client that is looking to do a large mirror with a black leather 3.5" frame any suggestions
I know of House of Mercier (sp)
But would like a few more options

Presto has a leather look panel that I've used often.
There is also LJs Canterbury line which is a "Leather Look" moulding 749603 would be the "black" 3.25" wide one.

Niether are real leather, but either could work.

PM Framemaker..... I'd put his work up against Mercier..... and it would be custom.. just the way you want it.... and a fellow grumbler.

He is kind of a Rolly Coaster freak though..... but I would hold that against him.... his daughters make him do it..... and his wife..... poor guy doesn't stand a chance.

How leathery are you looking? There's two other economical choices:
Bonanza Wood 86093 is 2 1/2", stack with the smaller one would be right nifty.
Likewise, Orr Moulding sports a line that has a rougher leather with stitched edged, like a football. (#6211 is brown 2 1/2", I don't have a black sample).

But if your client's got the $$$, go to a hand-wrapped leather frame...that would be epic! :D
 
With Mercier, if you don't have an account then you're probably SOL buying direct and will be forced to buy from an already established framer. They will not sell to just anyone with a resale certificate, so you're probably better off looking at other sources if at all possible.

This one is a bit bigger then I would want to tackle though.
Now as to the coasters, since you are in NJ which also has one of my favorite parks (Six Flags Great Adventure) I could have been talked into coming out and helping to make it at your location. Of course since it is off season it would have to wait till spring of 2010. :)
 
Funny Dave just spoke with client and this does not have to be completed by the end of the year.

When is the park opening? We will be heading back there in 2010. Kingda Ka opened back up 3 days after we were there. :(
 
I think that they are opening this weekend for some sort of event but I will check into the spring schedule I have a friend who also is a roller coaster freak maybe we could hook up after we do the 40x90 leather frame ;)
