Hello all,

We have a designer that we work with who is interested in getting some cheap ornate frames approximately 40" x 60" to put around some 60" flat screen TVs. She doesn't want anything too expensive because she is going to spray paint them in bright, high-gloss colors. These are going in a commercial setting and there will be 6 of them in different colors.

The boss thought maybe there might be a source for cheap "Hecho in Mexico" finished corners at 40" x 60". We could also buy a box of moulding that is pretty chunky and ornate and join them as long as the price is right. It doesn't have to be finished corner, just ornate. These need to price out less than a couple of hundred each, wholesale. Does anyone have a good source for anything that would fit the bill? Any recommendations are appreciated.

As always thank you for your responses. This is an amazing resource.

I'm not sure how you are going to be able to use a ready made for this.

I just measured my Samsung 55" LED and the outside dimensions are roughly 55" x 32". Others are going to be more or less.

So how are you going to fit these into a 60x40" ready made?

It was the boss' idea. I'm not sure exactly. Maybe she will fit a panel liner into them to make them fit? I feel like we'd be better off with some ornate moulding that we could chop to exact size. The thing is she wants ornate without paying for expensive finishing. Any thoughts on good suppliers for this?

Wood or plastic? How wide? How ornate?

There are some huge ornate poly mouldings available (this side of the pond anyway). A quick wipe down with de-greaser and a tickle with sandpaper and you can spray them with rattle cans of auto paint.

Spray Paint ? Someone has been watching HGTV too much ;)

Ooooorrrrrrr they shop at DeSerres.....

Ready to paint. $***** (price removed by moderator 10/3/2012)
When I was in Canada, their store in Edmonton had an 20x24(ish) Louis 15th in the window
painted in an irridesent blue aqua . . . really cool for about $165 + paint.

but 40x60..... You would be in the $350-400 range easily.

Even San Diego frame would be there before the shipping.

We ask everyone not to put wholesale/supplier costs or markup formulas on the forum. The search engines and public have access to search for this info, and we feel it is better that they get the pricing from their local framer. Many components go into a job, and the wholesale price for a specific component may give someone a false impression.

If you want to share cost, please do it via PM - or ask people to PM you for the info.

Thanks in advance
Mike

At this point it's pretty open. They're just trying to see what we can do. Wood's fine. Plastic would probably be ok as long as it will take the paint. I'm guessing they want at least 3" or more and the gaudier the better.

Mike,
DeSerres is a RETAIL store chain and Website..... same as M/J/AC/HL.....

except it's Canadian based, and family owned.

here is the RETAIL posted on THEIR website.

Sorry if there was any confusion on the moderator's part as to
whether something so cheap could be retail.

They are that cheap, they are retail, and not for China... from Spain.

But I'm pretty sure that yer frame there is 4-1/2" x 4".
Not that hot of a deal for $45! :D

Lafontsee, I don't know where yer located, but these guys ain't too bad. Don't know if they have 40 x 60 though. :p

Hey lafontsee: if you can find the Uniko Extrusion web site, look over what they've got. I can buy a box, chop the lengths, and ship them to you from New York state. I get them direct from the factory, dirt cheap, and can get them to you quick. You join them. Or, I'll ship length, but it will cost.

Uniko neglected to renew their site, and their domain name was highjacked.

Let me know if you're interested. The quality is really good, and some of their stuff is quite ostentatious. If you have trouble finding them, let me know.

Are the TV's going to be recessed into the walls? It might be kind of tough to fit just any old frame onto a television and have the whole thing look and function properly.

Sorry about that, it was my error for not looking it up. I was following up on a reported post alert.
