My customer has a limited addition print and wants to use beveled accents. Since these are Artcare - can they sit right on top of the print or should I put a 1 ply ragmat under it?
Thanks.

Addition is never limited..... you can add as much as you want.

But a limited Edition print, may or may not want to be that
close to foam-core.... and a piece of rag paper is no barrier...
but you can always lay a couple of strips of barrier tape before
the softer surface of rag.

Thanks for the reply Baer. So you would recommend putting the barrier tape on the underside of the "beveled accents" and then place that on top of the 1 ply or 2 ply alpharag artcare mat. Who makes the barrier tape and what is it called?"
Thanks, Dan

I see a lot of limited edition prints that have no more value than an open edition poster. Just keep this in mind when choosing how far to take preservation. That being said, I would be more concerned about the color rubbing off on the print margins than any off-gassing from the foam core.

I'm always amazed that at the mere mention of "limited edition" how many people jump to the far right in conservation techniques. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.
