Hi I would like to formally introduce myself to everyone, I've been a member of the G since 2006 but only recently have become addicted. I don't belong to any sites such as this so you will have to excuse my ignorance and lack of etiquette by not posting an intro sooner.
A little about myself, my shop is called "Parrish Fine Framing and Art", in downtown Ann Arbor Mi, I've been in business for over 12 years and doing framing for over 20 years. I am 40 years old , married with a 3 year old son an 3 month old daughter and 2 rescued dogs. I have a bachelors in Fine Art and minor in Art History, I started doing framing as a way to support my self through college, after gaining my degree I did what all artists do with their degree, nothing, kept framing. Luckily at some very fine galleries and built up a great cliental. When one of the galleries decided to close up their frame shop I bought the equipment rented a small second floor office space next door. The gallery went under the a year later and hear I am 12 years later and going strong. Besides all the standard frame fare I do custom milled, hand finished hardwood frames, nothing fancy just simple and modern gallery style frames , think of Picture Woods or A Street Frames. I thoroughly love what I do and try to provide the best service to my clients. I practice archival framing and consider myself lucky that our local art museum refers people to my business.
This seems like a great forum and I hope to make friends around the world here. Locally I find myself be more likely to have a good relationship rather than a competitive one with other shops, some of us are even best friends. I've never attended a con before except small open houses put on by the suppliers, I'd like to attend Vegas next year. I don't think it would be hard to convince my wife, since she's wanted to go for years.
So I know there is a wealth of information already here, I hope I can contribute to it when I can. ~Randy
