Okay everyone, this is one on my personal projects. I have several game used autographed baseball bats and I am wanting to frame them.
I am going to go get some nice wood from Lowes and make deep square plain frame. I will then get a unfinished "real" frame and hinge the frame to the box. Simple enought. Line with fabric, etc.

I am trying to find someway to hang the bats.
I have seem some like this with wood hangers, but I have also seen acrylic etc.

Anyone have ideas on where I can get some or any other methods? I want the bats to hang vertically from their handles.

**THE BATS CAN NOT BE DAMAGED IN ANY WAY***

Thanks!!! I appreciate it.

A "Bat Rack" hangs the bats from the combing ferral on the end of the handle.

It ends up looking a whole lot like a gun case..... but chose your weapon...and if there are intruders.... I'd take the bats.... :D

I love my defense systems up close and personal.... and the sound of a resounding crack of a burglers knees.... there is just no other sound like it.

You can make the rack out of the same fine Lowe's wood...

Or out of 1/2" acrylic set into a three-side slot.

Steven: IF you have gloves to go withthem, we've "strapped" the bats to the backing with the same rawhide-type "rope" that is in the webbing of the gloves. Looks kinda cool and basebally.

Ok, I got it. build the sides and back as planned. line them. Build the frame as a cabinet door with a latch. Go to a local music store and buy two guitar mounting hooks. They come in wood and metal and will not scratch the bats at all. Mount the frame to the studs in the all and hang the bats. This way you get to take them out and swing them around the house also. Watch out for the lamp. The guitar mounts will work, I checked on my bat. Autographed Jose Crrrruuuuzzzzzzzzzzz! Luisville Slugger. Go Astros.

I love that idea! I have a couple dark (fragile finish) autographed bats that are not game used and was concerend about scratching them up. I will look in to that

You didn't say the bats would ever be removed from the frame, but implied it by designing a hinged frame. Fixed or removable -- Which is it?

If the bats are to be removed and handled, that is when they are most vulnerable to damage. The best removable mounts, IMHO, may be constructed out of acrylic or spring steel padded with shrink tubing. Acrylic is bulky, spring steel is durable, and both types are quite visible.

If the bats may be left safely in the frame, then you do not need a hinged frame design and you can use more supportive mounts. In that case I suggest clear polyester film straps, which would hold the bats more securely and would be less visible than other kinds of mounts.

I would like to have them to be removable on occasion.

I am going to go to town and look around at the music store and a super Lowes and see if anything catches my eye.

Thanks everyone
