Bark Painting

I have a painting on bark, I have decided to hing it however it is already cockled a lot, I fear that flattening it out would cause the paint to flake. Any ideas on how to reduce the cockles would be appreciated.

Try to stop fighting city hall.
Natural materials like bark were never ment to be flat. They are rustic handmade craft items and should be treated as such.
Let the client know that the cockeling is "THE CHARM" of having a handmade craft item.
