I had some early banknotes come into the store today and thought it would be great to mount them between 2 pieces of glass so that both sides could be viewed if desired. Any tips on this sort of situation? How would you mount these to the glass?

Welcome,

I would suggest encapsulating the bank note in Milinex® (aka Mylar) and then placing a mat in the front and the back, making a sandwich.

Collectors use mylar envelopes that are perfect for this use. My "collector" customers seem to have no trouble obtaining fresh ones so that I don't have to use the "handled" ones.

I contacted a friend at my local historical musuem who gave me a catalog of their archival supplies. I found my mylar envelopes in there, plus many other great ideas for use when dealing with collectibles. Don't have the name of the supplier handy, but that would be a contact you could make in your own area. I will also look for the catalog and post again when I find it.

Lineco has a nice selection of mylar sleeves and the sort in their offerings. They come in all sizes and I believe you can get some assortment packs. I believe Larson my distribute some of them.

Thank you to all who gave their input. It is much appreciated. I'm so glad to know that such a place exists. I found what I needed. Now the trick is to get the client to commit. People really aren't too enthusiastic about spending these days.

Cheers

Mike
