I guess it a defect in this batch but we pay top dollar for this product it should be right.

I got posters coming off and the adhisive is staying on the poster and coming off the foamcore. This is my 4th box and have not had this problem before. Is anyone else having this problem right now? I've been using 45sec at 170deg 500TX press.

The good news is I can easily peal the poster off and remount it using tissue.

Just when I thought I had a winner.

Does the Speedmount from that case function as intended if you attempt to mount newsprint or other porous material? It sounds like the variables are humidity and Speedmount, since you've had good results in the past.

Recently, when I have had problems, I was able to trace the problem back to changing humidity and me not pre-drying the posters… and not the Speedmount.

Without all the facts, it’s difficult and I certainly don’t mean to insult anyone’s experience; but with the newer heat activated products that adhere upon cooling rather than upon heating, we must learn new procedures. I have received some defective Speedmount, but it has been a couple of years. Though outside of manufacturer’s spec, Speedmount will work below 150 deg with longer dwell times.

Personal observations… The higher the temperature, the more critical that cooling under weight becomes. Use of release paper rather than release board makes a difference which is even more significant with humidity changes.

I have also seen several heat presses that the temperature calibration was considerably outside of manufacturer’s spec. Spec +/- 5 degrees F from setpoint and actual measured was in excess of +30/-0 degrees F from setpoint. That coupled with the fact that some framers believe that if a little heat is a good thing; then, a LOT of heat must be better has the potential for disasters.

For the record. The adhesive comes off the foamcore and stays on the poster. When I look at the unused sheets the coating looks uneven and you can see marks like it was sprayed on dry. It's never show that in the other cases I got.

Are we talking about regular Speedmount or the new Achival version? I've never had any problems with the regular, but the new stuff's adhesive seems tenuously attached to the board at best.
