Authentic Roma

Have use guys seen Roma's certificate of authenticity? Do you use them?

This is a great idea - just in case the customer wants to know they are getting the real thing. It makes me feel better too! Another great value added service from Roma.

I would like to have these for all of my jobs that use their moulding.

Thanks Roma, keep up the good work.

All the leading moulding companies should do the same.

How about just a nice label that says its Roma. That would be nice to have from all the major lines.

By implication though, you are telling the market that there is such a thing as a knock-off version. Not good marketing. It's the old thing where if you compare yourself to your competitor, you are implying that you have competition, and you think they have something to offer the customer.

I would use something like that to make the back of the package look better and be informative.

Less - what do you mean? Do you have this only for certain frames?

With all the little picture hangers I've seen through the years still attatched to the repairs I get (from other shops, not mine!), I wonder if customers actually look at anything on the dust cover. I put our lable on the back, and TruVue's sticker. If I really want them to see something, I attatch it to the wrappings and hope they take the time to read the info. Example, TruVue's little glass info booklet, Picture Woods care sticker.

Pamela,

I always unwrap the customer's work for them backside first. They seem to really appreciate the extra care I take providing as much information about what went into the care of their work as I do. I point out the u.v. glazing labels and any other information I provide. I often note things that I did not provide i.e. mount, matting, etc. I make notes about the care necessary to disassemble the package. I sometimes remount old framing labels, copy and mount old notations found on old backing paper and within the old framing package. I think it is important to provide as much historical information about the framing and the art on the verso for future framers, dealers, conservators and collectors. To finish, I sign and date the work. Someday, the work may come back to me, and I would like a quick reference to what I did or did not do.

A client recently told me that it was one of the reasons that I was their framer.
