I am doing an shadowbox overhaul for a new customer. One item that is included in this baby display is a "#1" birthday candle. As to be expected, the candle stained the matboard it was attached to. My thought it to use a piece of foamcore as a buffer and slow (if not eliminate) this problem. Will it work? If not, other suggestions?

Thanks.

What about straight-pins going thru the candle, thru a buffer foam build-up. Then bend the excess pin tips to hold the candle to the foam, and glue the foam to the matting.

just use dead-black mat & as if by majic---NO stain???
