I have a piece which is a Tyvek silhouette cut out, 24x48." The artist usually sandwiches their work between two sheets of acrylic set into a shadowbox frame. Fine and dandy.

After contacting the artists' usual framer (in the big apple) the adhesive they use is squares of "Scapa acid-free ATG." I have a source but I think I'd have to get 12 rolls when I only need one.

I already have a box of Scotch #889 Preservation double-sided tape, which I've used for Melinex mounting.

Question is whether anyone has used Scapa and can offer a comparison to the Scotch #889.

In the meantime, I'm off to the post office to snag a tyvek envelope so I can do a test with what I have!

Thanks all!

I'm sure others more knowledgeable than I will respond soon, but to my way of thinking the 889 would be a better choice anyway because it has an acrylic adhesive and a carrier, so would be less apt to "flow" or migrate than any ATG-type product.

I suspect that the static charge from two sheets of acrylic sheet will hold a sheet of olefin (polyethylene) in place with no assistance.

That being said, the tyvek is polyethylene, the tapes both involve acrylic adhesives, so the tapes are probably equal in this application.

Thank you Rick & O5!

O5, static alone was considered, but once I was talking with the artist and her usual framer, I'm feeling more confident about using the bits of 889. Who wants to pull apart a piece that big because it's slipped!

I really appreciate having the shared knowledge of all of you.
Thanks!
