On another thread, someone mentioned that they use ATG Gold for some projects, and Reg ATG for other projects. I understand that ATG gold is supposed to be Acid Free, but then what is the Regular ATG?

I once talked with Orton about the ATG Gold, and he told me that the was only about .3 less acid than the Regular ATG. They are both considered PH neutral, since they are both almost a PH of 7.

If you have any more information than that, please let me know.

Another good topic.

It is my understanding that the difference is the carrier paper. ATG gold has an acid free paper.

I, too, am interested in what others have to say on this subject.

ATG Gold has a much more aggressive adhesive. I believe it is acrylic, and more chemically stable over time than #924.

The Gold has more tack than the 924?! Are you sure you're not referring to the previous 3M "acid free ATG", which was discontinued? Everyone complained about how it would let go, including me.

I'm using the newer ATG Gold #908, which is also acid free. It is more aggressive than #924.
