I have a LE print to work on for a customer... and I am trying to figure out the signature to research this artist...

I have "googled" and come up with nothing...

The signature definitely looks like P L Dwyer..

Does anyone have an effective way of searching for an artist that is not currently published or was regional... NYC area in this case.

Oh, and the original "Conservation" framing of this oversize piece consisted of the le print backed with a tag board (pieced together, ahem!) and corrugated. Hah! Tape all over the place. Glass looks regular and is in a rather small frame (that came apart - the main reason for the redo besides the fact that it looks like it is out of the 50s!)

Thanks,

Roz

I have found quite a bit of useful information at AskArt even without the paid subscription. Alas, no P.L. Dwyer. There are 3 other Dwyers.

Sorry I couldn't be of help in this instance but who knows if the next one won't be listed?

Roz, I would start at the Met. They can lead you to the right place that has the right books.
Don't be surprised if it turns out to be some very obscure place.
In California, it is the Brand Library in Glendale or Burbank depending on who you are talking to.

They may even have info on your Dwyer. Of course you could also ask Ray up in Idaho if he's related... LOL

Sorry, I need some scotch and it's not 8pm yet.
